Amy Poehler would be totally up for a ‘Parks and Recreation’ revival

TwitterFacebook

We may now know the reason why a Parks and Recreation revival is yet to happen — and the issue doesn’t appear to be the willingness of certain cast members.

The problem may be that the show’s co-creator Mike Schur is just too damn busy.

“Mike Schur is currently working on about five shows,” Amy Poehler (aka Leslie Knope), told Variety on the carpet for Thursday night’s Parks and Recreation 10th anniversary reunion event.

The good news? She definitely didn’t rule out the possibility of a return, once Schur has a bit more time on his hands. Read more…

Your faves Tina Fey, Maya Rudolph, and Amy Poehler sang ‘Shallow’ and Lady Gaga loved it

TwitterFacebook

The very first musical performance of Oscars night was from Queen, but the second came from Maya Rudolph, Tina Fey, and Amy Poehler.

The SNL vets belted out a few lines from “Shallow” while gearing up to present the first award of the night, Best Supporting Actress (which Regina King won for If Beale Street Could Talk). And Lady Gaga herself seems to have been a fan, laughing along in the audience.

In their time on stage, the trio also skewered this year’s tumultuous lead-up to the Oscars, the president’s longed-for border wall, and the infamous Fyre Festival sandwiches – while cracking cheesy puns about the nominees. (“My Spanx are moving into my Spider-Verse,” joked Poehler.) Read more…

Explaining and unpacking the transcendent ending of ‘Russian Doll’

TwitterFacebook

Warning: Major spoilers for Russian Doll: Season 1 lie ahead.

Russian Doll is a freaking phenomenal bit of television. I laughed. I cried. I got nervous about my cat’s whereabouts, called a friend to say I love them, spent hours curling my hair.

What more could a girl ask for? Well… some answers would be nice.

Natasha Lyonne’s heart-wrenching story of a “broken man” and a “lady with a death wish” traversing numerous timelines to solve a metaphysical mystery sucked me in the moment it started—and its many unsolved mysteries have hung with me ever since.

Russian Doll‘s meticulously crafted details create a mystifying universe with quirks that felt, if not entirely novel, fresh and newly perplexing in a been-there-done-that genre. Each new enigma left with me a sprawling flowchart of questions, some of which are still troubling me. Read more…

Amy Poehler doesn’t have time for dumb celebrity interviews in Trump’s America

TwitterFacebook

America needs Amy Poehler now more than ever.

The comedian was recently included on the Hollywood Reporter’s “40(ish) Most Powerful People in Comedy” list. All comedians are required to submit answers to their mildly entertaining but obviously meaningless questionnaires.

Poehler was having none of it.

When asked for her “most memorable heckler,” Poehler responded: “Who cares? The whole world is on fire.”

Amy Poehler blasts NRA after they tweeted a ‘Parks & Rec’ GIF

TwitterFacebook

The NRA has turned being tone-deaf into an art form, and now they’ve gone and incurred the wrath of Amy Poehler and some fellow Parks & Rec alums.

On Wednesday night, the NRA sent a tweet that featured a gif of Poehler’s Leslie Knope character. The tweet thanked their controversial spokeswoman Dana Loesch, who appeared on a CNN town hall event Wednesday night alongside students from Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, the site of last week’s deadly school shooting in Parkland, Florida that claimed the lives of 17 people.
