Amy Schumer just shared a horrifyingly NSFW cake on Instagram

TwitterFacebook

Giving birth is one of the most beautiful, natural things in life.

But somehow the miracle of birth just doesn’t look quite as beautiful when recreated in frosting and sprinkles.

Schumer, who is expecting her first child, just shared a photo of a cake made for her by her sister in law, and it is really something.

A big, NSFW something with a crowning baby head in the middle.

“My sister in law. And I can’t stress that enough IN LAW. surprised me with a horrifying cake and i can’t thank her enough. So I won’t thank her at all@mofischhh something is truly wrong with you and i love you,” Schumer wrote, adding the hashtags #haunting and, yeah, #butthole (this hashtag takes you nowhere. Saved you a click.)  Read more…

Amy Schumer supports protesting NFL players by saying no to Super Bowl ads

TwitterFacebook

The Super Bowl is the biggest night of the year for two things: Pro football and very expensive commercials. Amy Schumer has decided to use one to influence the other.

Her concern stems from ongoing protest actions in which certain players kneel, raises fists, or stand together united during pre-game National Anthem performances. They’re doing it to take a stand against police brutality and racial inequality in America — sticking to the message of exiled NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick.

Schumer isn’t involved in football, but she does acknowledge that there’s one place she can push back: Super Bowl ads. She’s not doing them this year. She also urges Maroon 5 — the next Super Bowl’s halftime band — to drop out. Read more…

Saturday Night Live posed a question this week: Could the grim dystopia of The Handmaid’s Tale, where women are roughly on the same level as cattle, ever really work with a lighthearted, girls-just-wanna-have-fun spin, a la Sex and the City?
Nope…

5 burning questions about Amy Schumer’s truly baffling ‘I Feel Pretty’

TwitterFacebook

I Feel Pretty is ostensibly a fable of female empowerment, as an insecure woman (Amy Schumer) suddenly comes to believe she’s suddenly become beautiful – only to realize, in the end, that it really and truly is what’s on the inside that counts.

But I Feel Pretty fumbles its message so badly that the end result is less inspiring than just plain baffling. At its worst, it does more to reinforce society’s punishing beauty standards than dismantle them.

The story begins with a catastrophic head injury. Schumer’s Renee attends a SoulCycle class, where she hits her head and wakes up believing she’s turned into a much prettier woman. It’s not that she’s come to appreciate her own body, mind you – she believes she’s got an unrecognizably different body, even though she looks exactly the same to everyone around her. Read more…
