People are throwing cheese on their children now, and it’s kinda great

TwitterFacebook

Throwing cheese on your dog was good, but throwing cheese on a small child might be … better?

Yes, improving upon the dog cheese challenge — the only good internet challenge I’ve ever seen — seems impossible. But people have been throwing cheese on their toddlers and there’s a Twitter thread and it’s all so delightful.

Have you ever seen a crying kid stop crying once there is cheese stuck to their face? It’s a testament to the power of dairy products and also the power of surprise.

Please enjoy this perfect series of videos, and may the small child in your life have some cheese on their face soon. Unless the small child in your life wouldn’t like that. Then don’t do it. These kids, however, seem to really enjoy it.  Read more…

Amazon faces backlash after running shady baby registry ad campaign

TwitterFacebook

Amazon is apparently getting really good at ripping off your friends and family.

The e-commerce giant faced widespread backlash today following a Wall Street Journal report detailing a rather shady advertising effort from the Jeff Bezos-helmed behemoth. Specifically, the company has been surreptitiously placing advertisements into baby registries — effectively disguising those ads as items requested by expecting parents — with only a tiny and easily overlooked “Sponsored” label to distinguish them from the rest of the listed gifts.

In other words, after someone makes a baby registry filled with items he or she actually needs, Amazon then slips in a few products as well — often without the knowledge of the person who created the list or those doing the buying.  Read more…

Some babies look elderly. Reddit has found a way to celebrate them.

TwitterFacebook

This post is part of Hard Refresh, a soothing weekly column where we try to cleanse your brain of whatever terrible thing you just witnessed on Twitter.

We’ve all come across babies who seem older than they really are — by about, um, 70 years.

Often, it’s temporary. I, for one, looked like my mother’s tax accountant until I was six-months-old. And I’ve come across more than one infant who looks like they’d rather play solitaire on the computer than make dumb faces at millennials.

The subreddit r/OldBabies has ’em all.

The community collects photos of babies who appear to be senior citizens in various states of aging. I can’t stop scrolling through, and frankly I have no intention of stopping. Read more…

Naya Health, once a promising breast pump startup, now leaving customers in the dark

In a […]

Amazon wants to give you a *free* Fire HD 8 Tablet with purchase of an Arlo baby monitor

TwitterFacebook

With Father’s Day coming up and Mother’s Day just happening a month ago, the shopping focus has been on parenting for a while now. And while new vacuums, tools, and all that other gift-y stuff is nice, one of the things a parent wants most in life (other than a drink and a nap) is knowledge that their kid is safe.

No, we’re not suggesting putting a tracker on your kid like that crazy mom in Black Mirror — but we are suggesting grabbing an well-reviewed Arlo Baby Monitor to keep an eye out at all times. Amazon will throw in a free Fire HD 8 Tablet with purchase, which means you get both for $199.99. Read more…

LOL, wait: The babies featured in Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s tour assets apparently aren’t their own

TwitterFacebook

If you’re crazy in love with those recently shared photos of Beyoncé and Jay-Z carrying what appeared to be their twin children, you might want to hold up.

Turns out that the babies the couple’s seen holding in projections at their “On The Run II” tour shows aren’t Sir and Rumi Carter after all. What?!

On Wednesday, Buzzfeed reported that those cute little babies Bey and Jay are holding ARE NOT THE ROYAL TWINS, but rather, two mystery babies who’ve fooled fans everywhere.

Per Buzzfeed, when the outlet reached Beyonce’s representatives for comment on whether or not the children featured in the images are the couple’s own, the response was a simple, “It’s not.” (Mashable reached out to representatives for the couple and will update should we hear back.) Read more…

Precious uses artificial intelligence to help parents figure out what to do with all their baby photos

While pregnant, I imagined I’d spend maternity leave making elegant baby albums with detailed captions each month. That didn’t happen and now I have thousands of baby photos on my phone and no idea how to even begin organizing them. Created for parents who, like me, are overwhelmed by their digital memories, Precious uses artificial intelligence […]

These tiny baby octopuses hatching will brighten your miserable existence

We know you’re probably sick of cute octopus videos at this point but please, bear with us.

The Virginia Aquarium posted a video of octopuses (yes “octopuses” is grammatically correct, nerds) hatching and displaying their colour-changing abilities.
