Hot mic picks up someone saying ‘we’re actually f**cked’ during live BBC broadcast

TwitterFacebook

The thought of getting caught on a hot mic and broadcast nationwide without your knowledge is a pretty terrifying one.

Especially if what you get caught saying is a pretty blatant — and accurate — statement about national politics, and you also happen to drop the f-bomb.

That’s exactly what happened to one unlucky individual who got caught making some rather blunt remarks during a live BBC broadcast. During a televised press conference – where seven members of the UK political party Labour resigned in protest over the leadership of party Leader Jeremy Corbyn – a BBC microphone picked up a voice saying, among other things, “we’re actually fucked.” Read more…

David Attenborough’s latest nature show has a brilliantly original twist

TwitterFacebook

An iguana desperately fleeing a horde of snakes. A bird struggling to find love. A giraffe fending off a lion in a heroic bid for freedom.

When it comes to nature documentaries, it tends to be the individual stories that we remember best. It happened again and again in Planet Earth II and Blue Planet II — an event in the life of one specific creature, combined with the sweetly soothing sound of David Attenborough’s narration, took the internet by storm.

Well, it looks like there’s going to be more where that came from. In the latest BBC David Attenborough documentary series Dynasties, there will be an even greater focus placed on individual stories. Read more…

Royal wedding takes turn for the NSFW with BBC subtitle error

TwitterFacebook

British royal weddings are usually posh affairs, steeped in tradition, and not really the place to make mention of, uuuh, people’s private parts.

That is nonetheless what happened when BBC News subtitled its coverage of Princess Eugenie’s wedding to Jack Brooksbank.

A commentary on the Princess’s dress ended up being subtitled as a remark on… not her dress. The mistake was most likely not due to human error, but rather an automated subtitle malfunction.

Either the subtitles machine is broken or BBC News are getting rather personal about Princess Eugenie.😮😳#RoyalWedding pic.twitter.com/oFrlK2cMuX
