‘Pictionary Air’ modernizes a classic game in a futuristic way

Pictionary without anything to write on seems like it wouldn’t work. Well, you haven’t seen Pictionary Air.

Pictionary Air is the latest iteration of the classic group game, eschewing the tried-and-true pencils and papers of the past for a more modern version of drawing. Using an air pen and an app, Pictionary Air players sketch their creations out of thin air that other players can see on screen.

Creepy ‘Black Mirror’ board game ‘Nosedive’ lets you rate your friends

If you’ve ever wanted to feel what it’s like to be in an episode of Black Mirror, now’s your chance.

A Black Mirror-inspired board game called Nosedive was revealed Thursday, taking the existentially frightening Season 3 episode of the same name and turning it into a supposedly fun game to play with your friends and family.

Nosedive, a self-described social game, is based on the 2016 Black Mirror episode “Nosedive,” starring Bryce Dallas Howard, in which people have the ability to give each other star ratings with their phones. These public star ratings determine people’s social status, entry to events, and purchasing option — a take on how classism creates division in society and severely impacts those who are less fortunate. Dr. Pimple Popper on the one thing even she finds disgusting

Dermatologist Sandra Lee — better known as Dr. Pimple Popper — is not your typical Instagram star. Instead of beauty tutorials or fashion hauls, Dr. Lee is known for her oozing, explosive, forever satisfying pimple popping videos. 

She has a TLC show, a skincare line, and now she’s released “Pimple Pete,” an Operation-like tabletop game where players gently pull stubborn zits out of poor acne-prone Pete. If you pull too hard, Pete’s pimple-ridden face will squirt you.

‘Scrabble’ adds ’emoji’ and more words to its official dictionary

It’s time to throw away your outdated dictionary and dust off those tiles, baby, because Scrabble is getting some new words. 

The folks behind Scrabble are beefing up the official Scrabble player’s dictionary with 300 new words to keep up with the times and give veteran players some fresh verbs and nouns to memorize.

The 70-year-old board game will be putting out the sixth edition of Merriam-Webster’s The Official Scrabble Player’s Dictionary this fall, and although not all of the words are exactly new to the English-American lexicon, they’re certainly new to the competitive word game. Read more…
