The #snootchallenge is here to bless the internet with cuteness

TwitterFacebook

What’s more adorable than dogs doing cute tricks? The answer is nothing.

This is probably why dog owners have taken to the #snootchallenge, the objective of which is to get your dog to run to you and put its snoot straight into a small circle.

Simple concept, delightful results.

20 adoptable senior dogs in need of a new best friend

TwitterFacebook

Forget Shark Week, it’s Bark Week on Mashable. Join us as we celebrate all the good dogs, which we humans do not deserve.

“Ask not what you can do for a senior dog, but what a senior dog can do for you,” JFK (not really, but the sentiment is true).

Senior dogs are adopted at a rate lower rate than dogs of all other ages combined, according to a study from the ASPCA. But older dogs make for loyal and calm companions for anyone who wants to skip the energetic, messy puppy stage.

Shirley Braha, the human who adopted Instagram-famous Marnie the Dog as a senior pup explains why you should consider older dogs when looking to adopt: “Senior dogs are usually pretty chill and just grateful to have a safe place to call home and a human to give them lots of love,” Braha says in an email.  Read more…

Amazing dog recognizes long-lost brother while out on a walk

TwitterFacebook

You may wonder what secret life your pet lead before coming to you, but for the owner of a Labradoodle named Louie, the past just got a little clearer.

Twitter user @itswalela posted a picture of Louie in the park after he spotted another Labradoodle and immediately stopped what he was doing.

After talking to the other dog’s owner, Louie’s family discovered that the two dogs came from the same breeder and had the same parents. Yes, that’s right — the two dogs are brothers.

My fam got Louie (right) from a breeder years ago. Tell me why, Louie is at the park & stops dead in his tracks when seeing this dog (left). Turns out they are from the same breeder, have the same parents, meaning THEY ARE BROTHERS & RECOGNIZED EACH OTHER 😭 this shit made me cry pic.twitter.com/yfHxb74TEr

Baby tree kangaroo takes first steps, decides pouch is better than world

TwitterFacebook

If you can get through this video of a baby tree kangaroo taking its first steps without losing your shit, you’re stone cold.

Sydney’s Taronga Zoo has released an outlandishly adorable video of its new marsupial resident, a little Goodfellows tree kangaroo joey who took his first steps on Wednesday.

Yet to be named, the wee creature was born in September last year to mama Kwikila, but this is the first time the keepers have seen him roam.

Happy dog launches himself through open car window at rocket speed

TwitterFacebook

It’s a well-proven fact that there are few things in this world more cheering than the sight of a happy dog.

Especially if the dog in question happens to be taking a running, gleeful jump through an open car window.

On Sunday, Roman Mitchell from Dallas, Texas shared the following video of his Pointer.

“I thought it’d be cool to show off my dog’s athleticism,” he wrote, “until I realized he had no self control…”

People are letting their dogs take the Egg Challenge. It’s much better than Tide Pods.

TwitterFacebook

Unlike the Tide Pod challenge, a new internet trend of putting inedible stuff in our mouths isn’t going to make you roll your eyes.

Twitter has been inspired by Sookie the golden retriever who oh-so-gently held an egg in her mouth recently. And now, people are testing their own pups with the Egg Challenge, where you basically force an egg into your doggo’s mouth and see if they don’t break it.

This challenge is not restricted by breed, and all different types of dogs are stepping up.

Did the Golden Retriever egg challenge with my half-Golden Retriever, half-Border Collie. Apparently, Goldens have very gentle and soft mouths!

He didn’t disappoint ❤️
Yes, he was adamant on taking the egg outside.
Who knows what would’ve happened then..pic.twitter.com/dRv8fZ3QWv

RIP Nigel, the saddest bird in the world

TwitterFacebook

Move aside Romeo and Juliet. The award for most tragic love story now belongs to Nigel the bird and his concrete beloved.

Per The Guardian, the story begins in 2013 when Nigel, a gannet, showed up on Mana Island, an uninhabited piece of land off the coast of New Zealand. Initially, conservationists had placed fake concrete gannets on the island in order to attract some real birds.

Soon after he moved to the island, conservationists realized that Nigel was alone—and that he was insistent on romancing one of the concrete birds.  Read more…
