New trailer for Dark Phoenix doesn’t bode well for the X-Men

The latest trailer is out for what could be the final installation in this iteration of the X-Men franchise — and things don’t look great (either for our heroes or for the franchise). The Dark Phoenix saga is one of the most famous (and well-loved) narrative arcs in the comic book series long history, and […]

‘Once Upon a Deadpool’ trailer has a charity tie-in

TwitterFacebook

What’s better than a Deadpool sequel? Two sequels, with different ratings, out in the same year! Once Upon A Deadpool will revisit Deadpool 2 “filtered through the prism of childlike innocence” – a.k.a. edited to fit a PG-13 rating.

Once Upon A Deadpool frames the previously explicit movie as a bedtime story Deadpool reads to Fred Savage – you know, like The Princess Bride. However, as Savage is quick to note, he’s an adult man now, and the gimmick doesn’t have the same heartwarming, family-friendly feeling (Deadpool has him tied up).

“Venom” is better than it has any right to be

What happens when a cast of Oscar contenders like Tom Hardy, Riz Ahmed and Michelle Williams are turned loose to chew the scenery of a (seemingly wryly self-aware) B movie? Audiences get “Venom”, the latest bid from Sony Pictures to create its own superhero mega-franchise now that storylines for the studio’s web-slinging centerpiece have merged […]

FX boss says Donald Glover’s ‘Deadpool’ series was deep-sixed by Marvel

TwitterFacebook

It’s been a few months since it was announced that Donald Glover’s heavily-anticipated Deadpool animated TV series, to be produced for FX, was being shelved. But we finally have a few more details about why that came to be, thanks to FX chief John Landgraf.

Landgraf, the CEO of FX, was speaking at the Television Critics Association (TCA) summer press tour on Saturday when he put the blame squarely on MarvelPer The A.V. Club, Landgraf said:

Well, then.

This is as specific a reason as we’ve heard since the March news that the show wasn’t happening and that the three entities — Glover, Marvel, and FX — were parting ways. It’s a bit of a sensitive situation since this triangle has a few other relationships ongoing: Marvel and FX work together on Legion and, of course, Glover and FX have had huge success with Atlanta. Deadpool crashes iconic movie covers and honestly, they’re so much better

Deadpool is taking over your favorite movies.

In true Deadpool fashion, the masked mercenary has hijacked the BluRay covers of some famous movies. In a marketing move to promote the upcoming Deadpool 2, which releases May 18, Walmart this week has slipped joke covers over classic films to show the chimichanga-loving anti-hero in some brand new roles.

Catch him on the front of My Cousin Vinny or holding up the infamous soap on the cover of Fight Club

Have you seen these new #Deadpool variant Blu-ray slipcovers for a bunch of different movies? I stopped at Walmart to buy Office Space and they were so awesome I bought the entire set of 16 Blu-rays! #podernfamily #TuesdayThoughts @deadpoolmovie pic.twitter.com/VkARhf3zx4
