Drone sighting briefly halts departing flights at UK’s Heathrow Airport

All flights departing Heathrow, the U.K.’s largest airport, were suspended for an hour on Tuesday following a reported drone sighting. An airport spokesperson told TechCrunch that staff are “working closely” with London’s Metropolitan Police, “to prevent any threat to operational safety.” The airport did not say who reported the drone. These photos of England’s manager hugging his wife post-World Cup loss will hit you right in the heart

TwitterFacebook

There’s nothing like a hug to comfort you after your team loses a World Cup match.

On Wednesday, after England lost the World Cup semi-final game to Croatia, fans, players, and team manager Gareth Southgate were completely heartbroken.

While we didn’t see Southgate plop down on the field to mourn the loss like some of his players did, photographers did capture an extremely touching post-game moment he shared with his wife Alison in the stands.

The two were seen reuniting after the game, kissing and embracing among empty seats, later joined by family members. The photographs of the emotional moment are just so damn pure — like something straight out of Friday Night Lights. Read more…

Just some very sad English soccer players on the ground

It is not, unfortunately, coming home.

England lost its World Cup semi-final match to Croatia on Wednesday, thanks to a goal from Mario Mandzukic in the second half of extra time. Now, England will play Belgium in the third-place match, and Croatia will face France in the final on Sunday.

But before all that happens, England must take some time to mourn. Please join them.

English fans toss their beers high and far to celebrate World Cup goal

TwitterFacebook

There were a lot of pent-up feelings for the English as their mens World Cup took to the pitch to face Croatia in the World Cup semifinal.

The world’s home of soccer hasn’t won a World Cup since 1966 but England are believers again thanks to a trip to the World Cup semifinal against Croatia on Wednesday.

And this fifth minute goal from Kieran Trippier in the match, to put England up 1-0, resulted in so much English jubilation.

Unfortunately, you can’t hook up with the Doncaster Council

TwitterFacebook

Doncaster is a market town in South Yorkshire, England. It’s notable for the Yorkshire Wildlife Park, its vicinity to various historic buildings, and, apparently, incredibly attractive local government.

That’s right. The Doncaster Council, a Metropolitan Borough Council, is so hot that on Monday it received a proposition to hook up.

Much to the delight of the Internet, the Doncaster Council responded.

It’s nice to see people truly appreciating some of the many services we offer as a council, to the point of them wanting to thank us in person. 😊#MondayMotivation pic.twitter.com/EMyPkHQClt
