Eddie Redmayne, actual wizard, performs a magic trick for Jimmy Fallon

TwitterFacebook

Eddie Redmayne is truly a wizard, both onscreen and IRL.

Chatting to Jimmy Fallon on Wednesday about the new Fantastic Beasts film, The Crimes of Grindlewald, the subject naturally moved to magic.

The star, who plays protagonist Newt Scamander in the Harry Potter spinoff series, said he used to have magicians at his birthday parties as a kid, and has learned a few tricks since — one of which he performed on The Tonight Show.

Notably, Redmayne says he wore a rollneck sweater specifically for the show, “because I feel like only magicians can pull off rollnecks.” Read more…

Everyone’s heading back to Hogwarts in new ‘Fantastic Beasts’ extra

TwitterFacebook

Going to Hogwarts is a dream come true for so many – including some of the cast of Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald. The actors and J.K. Rowling herself appear in a new film featurette about the excitement of returning to Hogwarts.

The new Wizarding World film catches up with a young Dumbledore (Jude Law) while teaching at Hogwarts, and his students Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) and Leta Lestrange (Zoe Kravitz). All three actors express how surreal it is to film scenes at the famed magical institution (shot on-location in the same place as the original Harry Potter films) when they’ve seen those sets on screen a million times. ‘The Crimes of Grindelwald’ looks like it’s all about Dumbledore

TwitterFacebook

The title may be about someone else, but the full trailer shows that The Crimes of Grindelwald is all about Albus Dumbledore. The younger version of Harry Potter’s mentor (played by Jude Law) has a lot of power and baggage in the Fantastic Beasts sequel, and he’s the key to the events of this movie – and the future of the wizarding world.
