Sarah Paulson discusses which ‘Glass’ actor has the biggest ‘delusion of their grandeur’ IRL

Acting in a big budget Hollywood movie means you’re likely to be surrounded by some pretty big personalities.

Just ask Sarah Paulson. Not only is she a very big character herself, but she just starred in M. Night Shyamalan’s Glass alongside Bruce Willison, Samuel L. Jackson and James McAvoy.

And the question Stephen Colbert wants to know in The Late Show clip above, is: Who has the biggest delusion of their own grandeur in real life?

“You know, it’s Hollywood,” says Paulson. “Everybody’s gotta kinda like… it’s par for the course.

“I will say Sam Jackson — it’s not a delusion of grandeur — he’s just the coolest cat around. And he takes about 10 minutes to walk, like, two feet. Read more…

“In a twist that would disappoint Mr. Glass more than anything in the world, Glass settles for being barely ordinary, when it could have been something extraordinary.”

‘Glass’ tries and fails to shatter the comic book movie formula

TwitterFacebook

Watching Glass is like going to the movies with that one friend who cannot help leaning over to whisper one banal observation after another into your ear, and then leaning back satisfied that he’s just blown your mind.

“In comics, this is referred to as the ‘showdown,'” explains Mr. Glass (Samuel L. Jackson) during the climax — assuming, I guess, that no one listening has ever read a comic or seen a movie before.

Glass is M. Night Shyamalan’s sequel to his Unbreakable and Split, and like Unbreakable before it, wants to be a deconstruction of the superhero genre. But where Unbreakable was meticulous, re-examining well-worn tropes through well-drawn characters, Glass is uncontrolled. It doesn’t so much analyze or update those tropes as it does lampshade them, and call it a day. Read more…

M. Night Shyamalan drops extremely creepy ‘Glass’ trailer at Comic-Con

TwitterFacebook

M. Night Shyamalan’s latest brings together the stories of two of his movies —2000’s Unbreakable and 2016’s Split.

Following the events of Split, Glass picks up in a mental hospital with a woman (Sarah Paulson) treating Elijah Price (Samuel L. Jackson), David Dunn (Bruce Willis) and The Horde (McAvoy). Given the title and his eponymous character, it’s safe to infer that Jackson will play a bigger role in this as his alias Mr. Glass. Anya Taylor-Joy will reprise her role as Casey Cooke, who was abducted in Split. Spencer Treat Clark and Charlayne Woodard also star. Read more…
