A man threatened to sue a magazine for using his picture to show a generic hipster. But it wasn’t him.

Before threatening a lawsuit over the use of your image you should probably check to make sure the picture is actually of you — especially if you’re a hipster.

MIT Technology Review recently covered a study that looked into the “hipster effect.” According to the site’s editor-in-chief Gideon Lichfield, they immediately received an email after publishing their piece from an angry man claiming to be the article’s pictured “hipster.”

A few days ago we ran a piece in @techreview about some research purporting to explain the “hipster effect”—the fact that nonconformists often end up nonconforming in the same way. We used a stock Getty photo of a hipster-ish-looking man. https://t.co/8LB6qLSmgS

The offending pastry was first brought to Twitter’s collective attention with a viral tweet posted by Amy Charlotte Kean.

“I feel like this might be a bit much even for east London,” opined Kean on Twitter.

Much like high-top fades and short shorts, vinyl has defied the odds and made a comeback. From an audio perspective, it makes sense: there’s something about the way that vinyl sounds that just can’t be duplicated with digital music. But from a practical standpoint, vinyl is a pain in the butt. It’s not portable and requires a giant turntable. Fortunately, there’s a new little gizmo that unshackles your records and lets you listen to them anywhere: the RokBlok.

They were supposed to change the snapping game forever, and maybe they did, but Snap’s Spectacles caused a staggering $40 million loss on unsold devices to the company.

To try to get rid of some of those Spectacles — which, according to reports, are sitting in a warehouse in China by the hundreds of thousands —  Snap has announced it will sell them in a pop-up shop in east London.

Boxpark Shoreditch, a hipster hotspot in the UK, will host a dedicated store for the Snap spectacles starting Saturday, 11 November, “just in time for Christmas and the winter sport season,” a press release said.  Read more…
