Dad releases another video of his 4-year-old son’s hockey practice, and it’s priceless

TwitterFacebook

Everyone loves a sequel! While most sequels don’t always live up to the hype, this one certainly does.

Recently, YouTuber Coach Jeremy released a video where we were introduced to his adorable son Mason, and we followed his musings during hockey practice. In addition to a microphone, this time Jeremy equipped Mason with a GoPro to capture his running commentary while on the ice.

Mason treated us to even more iconic phrases than last time such as, “oh, a piece of garbage we can eat,” and “I need super Gecko powers.”

Although Mason’s hockey skills haven’t improved much, his video certainly improved our day.  Read more…

NHL reporter comes within inches of a puck nailing him in the head

TwitterFacebook

Phrases like “close call” and “near miss” are often overused — but in this case they almost feel like an understatement.

On Monday night, the Columbus Blue Jackets took on Tampa Bay Lightning in the NHL.

Commentating on the game was Pierre McGuire, who at one point came within roughly two inches of a rogue puck shearing off his glasses.

Yikes.

Also, kudos to the person behind the camera for their unflinching dedication to the job.

The Philadelphia Flyers revealed its new mascot Gritty — and he will haunt you for the rest of your foreseeable days.

The scraggly, googly-eyed, orange-haired mascot was made public Monday morning, and looks like the result of an unholy union between the Babadook and a Muppet from Fraggle Rock.

Gritty is probably the last thing anyone needs, or wants to see at any sports arena. But hey, here we are.

Join us in welcoming the newest member of the #Flyers Family, @GrittyNHL!!

If you want people to attend your hockey game, hold wiener dog races on the ice

TwitterFacebook

There’s nothing in the NHL rulebook that says a dog can’t play hockey.

That’s just the sort of bravery that minor hockey league team the Atlanta Gladiators showed on Tuesday night, when they held their first wiener dog race.

It’s exactly what it sounds like. In between periods, they lined up a bunch of Dachshunds on a blue line and off they go, slipping their little legs on the hopefully-zambonied ice.

Junior league goalie scores on empty net and everyone absolutely loses their minds

TwitterFacebook

When a hockey player scores on an opponent’s empty net, there’s typically a tempered celebration. The game is over, the win is sealed — everyone can relax.

When that scoring hockey player is a goalie, however, you gotta sound the hell off like its the best goal you’ve ever seen in your entire life. The Stampede, a Tier 1 junior hockey team from Sioux Falls, South Dakota, understand this unwritten rule.

When 19-year-old goalie Mikhail Berdin scored an empty net goal from the the opposite end of the rink, his teammates absolutely lost their minds. Read more…
