I don’t like horror. Unless it’s in a video game.
I don’t really like horror. That is, unless it’s happening in a video game like Resident Evil 2.
I haven’t watched much horror in my life for the simple fact that I don’t particularly enjoy being scared. I don’t like watching characters that I’m supposed to root for go through harrowing, terrifying scenarios. On top of that, I’m not really a fan of gore.
But put me in control of the situation and I’m all in.

My first experience with a horror game was Resident Evil 4 in 2005, a few years after I saw my first spooky movie, The Sixth Sense. I’m not sure what compelled me to play Resident Evil 4, considering seeing The Sixth Sense haunted me for a very long time, but I did, and I loved it. Read more…

Resident Evil 2 is a perfect example of how to do a video game remake, taking an outdated yet beloved ‘90s game and rebuilding it into a modern horror masterpiece.
Every inch of the Resident Evil 2 remake is engrossing. It’s a masterclass in environmental design and atmosphere. It blends action, puzzles, and story into a well-balanced and fun concoction. All of that together makes RE2 an early game of the year contender for 2019.
There’s just one thing I can’t get out of my head.
The Resident Evil 2 remake almost broke me.

Someone turned the iconic fire drill scene from The Office into a horror short, and it might give you nightmares.
By removing the jokes, adding music from Captain America: Winter Soldier, and darkening the scene to a more ominous color scheme, Austin Spencer made paper salesman Dwight K. Schrute look like an absolute psychopath.
(Granted, Dwight usually seemed a bit psychopathic in the show, but in a lovable way!)
