Medium has reinvented itself many times over, but one facet of its identity seems to be sticking: it’s becoming the writing platform of choice for billionaires, billionaire politicians, and anti-billionaire politicians alike.

On Friday, senator and presidential candidate Elizabeth Warren published a blog post on Medium with her plan to break up Big Tech, including Facebook, Google, and Amazon. Gotta love the use of a tech platform to call out the tech industry.

But this wasn’t the first time eyeballs flocked to Medium for a major — if slightly more salacious — announcement. We’re only just getting over our 2018 midterms hangover, and now the 2020 presidential race is upon us.

That means any number of candidates are starting to hit the campaign trail — and some are already misfiring on all cylinders. From here on out, every single move candidates make will be scrutinized to the fullest extent that the grinding internet news cycle will allow.

Former Starbucks CEO says he might run for president and gets immediately… roasted

This is what a Venti serving of “NOPE!” looks like. 

Former Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz tweeted on Sunday that he’s considering a run for the White House as a “centrist independent,” whatever that is. 

I love our country, and I am seriously considering running for president as a centrist independent.

The tweet was part of a coordinated roll-out — an exclamation point to a coinciding profile of Schultz that aired on Sunday’s episode of 60 Minutes. In his chat with Scott Pelley, the 65-year-old white billionaire tried to paint himself as a man for all people.  Read more…
