Visa policies threaten innovation but aren’t stopping hiring abroad

The growing intensity of the US visa approval process has made it more difficult for companies to attract, support and retain foreign talent. However, recruiters are still sourcing talent from abroad at an increasing clip. According to a recent, roughly 30-page, report published by Envoy – the corporate workforce immigration management platform – US corporate […]

‘The Daily Show’ sends Bricky, its border wall mascot, to troll Trump fans in Texas

TwitterFacebook

Once again, The Daily Show has struck comedy gold.

Meet Bricky, a border wall mascot that the show sent to El Paso to talk to fans of President Trump ahead of his Monday night rally in El Paso, Texas. (That’s the one where a Trump backer attacked a BBC cameraman.)

The Trump fans didn’t disappoint — exposing a lack of humanity and a deep ignorance while parroting Trump’s talking points. From pointing out the flaws in plans to make Mexico pay for the border wall to fear-mongering stories about ISIS fighters being part of the caravan, Bricky let the pro-wall folks do the hard work for him.  Read more…

New Mexico’s governor literally runs through walls in response to Trump’s border wall

TwitterFacebook

For all of the various responses to Tuesday night’s State of the Union address by President Trump — including responses from Stacey Abrams, Sen. Bernie Sanders, and Sen. Kamala Harris  — perhaps the greatest was delivered by New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham.

Immediately after Trump’s speech concluded on Tuesday night, Grisham tweeted the following  video, which showed her taking Trump to task over his immigration stance and love of border walls by literally running through walls.

Amazing. And big props to Gov. Grisham for doing her own stunts.

The video appears to be a campaign commercial from her recent 2018 gubernatorial election. But Gov. Grisham did more on Tuesday to make her point than just pull a Kool-Aid man in a Twitter video.  Read more…

Why Silicon Valley needs more visas

Henrique Dubugras Contributor Share on Twitter Henrique Dubugras is the founder Brex, the billion-dollar corporate credit provider for startups. When I hear protesters shout, “Immigrants are welcome here!” at the San Francisco immigration office near my startup’s headquarters, I think about how simple a phrase that is for a topic that is so nuanced, especially […]

There’s now a hilarious GoFundMe to build escalators over Trump’s border wall

TwitterFacebook

One sharp-minded denizen of the world wide web has stepped up to meet the furor over the GoFundMe campaign to fund President Trump’s long-sought border wall with one of his own: funding an escalator that scales that wall.

It’s a brilliant bit of trolling from Boston-based freelance journalist Luke O’Neil whose newsletter, “Hell World,” dives into the intersection of cruelty and stupidity. It perfectly encapsulates something like a GoFundMe campaign to build a border wall for a president who promised Mexico — not taxpayers — would pay for it.

The internet roasts Trump for saying the wall will be made of ‘artistically designed steel slats’

TwitterFacebook

As of lunchtime Thursday, Capitol Hill was still in chaos over an impending government shutdown unless Trump abandons his demand for border wall funding. Meanwhile, Twitter users were still having fun with Trump’s declared logistics of the proposed wall.

On Tuesday night, as all of this debate was really heating up, Trump dropped this pair of tweets over his demands for the wall and what, exactly, he envisioned it would look like.

The Democrats, are saying loud and clear that they do not want to build a Concrete Wall – but we are not building a Concrete Wall, we are building artistically designed steel slats, so that you can easily see through it….

Trump’s border wall gets a GoFundMe campaign that’s trying to raise $1 billion

President Trump has so far failed to secure funding for his long-promised wall along the U.S.-Mexico border, so now his most ardent supporters are trying to pay for it themselves.
Earlier this week, a GoFundMe campaign that aims to raise one billion …
