Aggressive Instagramming is ruining Southern California’s super bloom

TwitterFacebook

People trampled California’s poppies for the ‘gram, and ruined it for the rest of us.

Fields of fiery “super bloom” poppies are lighting up the hills of Walker Canyon in Lake Elsinore, a city about halfway between Los Angeles and San Diego. Thanks to uncommonly heavy rains this winter, much of Southern California is seeing a massive burst of wildflower blooms across the state. The poppies in Walker Canyon are so lush, they can be seen from space.

Instagram’s ‘Hashtag Mindfulness’ boom: The good, the bad, and the ugly

TwitterFacebook

Can simply “being mindful” while, say, sipping a kale smoothie, constitute a mindfulness practice? Some experts say, yes!

But what being mindful means to you — especially when you’re posting about that moment on Instagram — may constitute a different version of mindfulness than the one that has prompted medical studies and attracted serious adherents across the globe.

The recent explosion in popularity of mindfulness is a well-documented phenomenon. One place in particular where mindfulness — or what some people think of as mindfulness — is enjoying a boom is on Instagram. Currently, there are over 11.8 million posts tagged with the hashtag #mindfulness; there are hundreds of thousands more with variations like #mindful or #mindfulnesspractice. Read more…

Even Twinkies are wearing AirPods these days.

And that’s because whoever is behind the Hostess Snacks’ Instagram page is a meme genius. A very kooky, imaginative genius. Or maybe geniuses? OK, it must be a panel of geniuses, eating Twinkies while Photoshopping AirPods onto Twinkies. Right?

Instagram and Facebook went down, so of course everyone made jokes on Twitter

TwitterFacebook

It’s been zero days since our last internet incident.

If you haven’t been able to post a status about your lunch, give your friend’s OOTD a like, or check if your star sign is getting dragged on meme accounts, it’s been a rough day for you.

Facebook and Instagram have been experiencing issues across the globe on Wednesday, with both websites and the apps being intermittently down, and some features not functioning for many users. Facebook-owned WhatsApp has also been experiencing problems.

Much like the iconic scene from The Office, we should all listen to the wise words of Michael Scott and stay calm people. However, the internet did what it does best — set itself on fire and ran to Twitter to react.  Read more…
