Circle Invest makes it ridiculously easy to invest in cryptocurrencies

TwitterFacebook

Ever wanted to invest in cryptocurrencies, but unsure of how and which coins you should choose?

Circle Invest, a new product by peer-to-peer payments company Circle, makes it incredibly easy to do so.

Previously available as beta, Circle Invest lets you deposit money directly from your bank account and trade 7 cryptocurrencies — Bitcoin, Ethereum, Bitcoin Cash, Litecoin, Monero and Ethereum Classic — for as low as $1.

But a new feature called “Buy the Market” makes it even simpler. You type in the number of USD you’d like to invest, and with a tap Circle Invest automatically spreads that investment across those seven cryptocurrencies, based on each coin’s weighted market cap. Read more…

Coinbase is launching its own cryptocurrency index fund

When you’re the runaway leader in a growing industry, you typically have two opinions: A) Stay in your lane and let other companies pop up to solve the industry’s problems, or B) Try to offer as many products as possible and own the entire customer experience from A-Z (no Amazon pun intended). If there’s any doubt which option Coinbase is gunning for, that’s now gone. Read More

A surprising amount of people would skip the final season of ‘Game of Thrones’ for $1,000

TwitterFacebook

A study from the investment company Acorns has found that a surprisingly high percentage of Americans would skip the final Game of Thrones season in exchange for $1,000. The Iron Bank may not be so keen to know that, but it goes to show how much gold weighs on our minds beyond Westeros.

According to Acorns’ 2017 Money Matters Report™, Americans are mostly split on whether money makes them feel “anxious and depressed” or “confident and hopeful” (11 percent report that it makes them feel “meh”). 76 percent of those surveyed between the ages of 18 and 44 said they would skip GoT Season 8 if it helped their financial situation. The percentages were similar when it came to staying off the internet for a week or not drinking coffee for a year. Read more…

Why do women invest less than men?

TwitterFacebook

Gender equality is the topic du jour — from the gender wage gap to gender bias in the workplace, people are discussing the issues like never before, and it’s about time. But one iteration of gender equality hasn’t received the attention it deserves, and truly needs — the gender gap in investing.

In a study by Moneyfarm, over half of women without financial investments in Britain cite a lack of funds as the most common barrier to investing. And almost 25 per cent say they do not have any disposable income in a typical month – versus just 14 per cent of men.

Women’s aversion to investing is well documented, but little progress has been made in the way of a solution. Due to different career trajectories and predicted longer lifespans, among other factors, women need to be investing for their futures now.   Read more…
