One of the word’s fastest-growing metropolises, Jakarta is changing at a dizzying and exciting pace. On the other side of the coin, rapid development also means that many locales that reflect the city’s diversity and rich cultural identity are being taken for granted.

Uber and Canon have decided to bring these unsung destinations to the forefront. Under their commission, three Jakarta-based influencers specializing in street photography embarked on a journey to photograph the most under-the-radar locations in the city. The list was pulled together using Uber’s internal data, based on which sites had the lowest number of drop-off requests. These places are called “hidden gems” for a reason: Not even the influencers — widely considered insiders of their own city — have set foot in them. Canon’s EOS M mirrorless camera range was used to capture their experience of getting acquainted with these places from a photographer’s point of view. Read more…
