March For Our Lives exhibit sends Congress a poignant message about gun violence

TwitterFacebook

The March For Our Lives activists have a message so big, you can’t miss it. And neither can Congress, we hope.

On March 26, the activists installed a gun violence art exhibit called “One Week in America” on the lawn of the U.S. Capitol.

In a Twitter thread, Matt Deitsch, the organization’s co-founder and chief strategist, explains the thinking behind each component of the installation. A sign reading “Your Complacency Kills Us” is directed to Congress, he explains, and in the exhibit’s center, a “jarring” statue depicting a student at a desk represents “a day in the life of an American student — painfully vulnerable to both trauma and violence.” Read more…

Dad releases another video of his 4-year-old son’s hockey practice, and it’s priceless

TwitterFacebook

Everyone loves a sequel! While most sequels don’t always live up to the hype, this one certainly does.

Recently, YouTuber Coach Jeremy released a video where we were introduced to his adorable son Mason, and we followed his musings during hockey practice. In addition to a microphone, this time Jeremy equipped Mason with a GoPro to capture his running commentary while on the ice.

Mason treated us to even more iconic phrases than last time such as, “oh, a piece of garbage we can eat,” and “I need super Gecko powers.”

Although Mason’s hockey skills haven’t improved much, his video certainly improved our day.  Read more…

TwitterFacebook

It’s a truth universally acknowledged by all current and former students that homework sucks. A lot.

After a long, grueling day of school, most kids have negative levels motivation left to do even more work. It’s definitely not encouraging to hear that it may not even make us any smarter.

But some homework answers do show that students can get pretty clever — either out of laziness, misunderstanding, or just a great sense of humor. If you can’t get your teacher to give you an A, you can try and eke out some points on a technicality. Or make them laugh.   Read more…

TwitterFacebook

Hillary Clinton did something this week that I cannot fathom doing: She answered an unexpected FaceTime call in public.

On Tuesday night, Clinton spoke at a launch event for the political action committee Vote Mama, which fundraises for progressive female candidates with children under the age of 18. Mid-speech, her phone started to ring. But instead of silencing it and turning beet-red, as I would, she picked it up.

“It’s my grandchildren on FaceTime,” she said.

It ended up being a cute moment — Clinton’s grandchildren, Charlotte and Aiden, ended up saying hi to everyone in the room.  Read more…
