Forbes gets roasted for naming Kylie Jenner its youngest ‘self-made billionaire’

Forbes was hotly critiqued for calling Kylie Jenner a soon-to-be “self-made billionaire” back in July, when she was poised to hit the $1 billion mark. Now she’s hit it, so they did it again.

As part of its annual ranking of the world’s richest people, the magazine named 21-year-old Jenner, who founded beauty company Kylie Cosmetics in 2015, the world’s youngest self-made billionaire. (She took the throne from Mark Zuckerberg, who became a billionaire at age 23.) 

Of course, this distinction seems dubious to many people — including the folks at Dictionary.com — because the term “self-made” doesn’t square with Jenner’s status as a member of one of a famously wealthy and visible family. Read more…

Eggs are taking over TikTok, thanks to the world record egg

TikTok users are having an eggcellent time. 

Since a photo of a normal, everyday egg broke Kylie Jenner’s world record for the most liked photo on Instagram, the Youths have been obsessed with eggs. 

TikTok users are coming up with eggstraordinarily creative videos in honor of the simple brown egg that broke the internet. 

According to TikTok, videos with the hashtag #EggGang gained 14 million views in just two days — it’s no surprise, considering how much they can crack you up.

When a member of the Kardashian-Jenner family has a birthday, low-key isn’t exactly the word we’d use to describe their celebration. 

True to form, Kylie Jenner’s 21st birthday was anything but low-key. 

Kylie posted a shot of herself with Kendall, Kim, Kourtney, Kris, and Khloe, in which they all put their middle finger up at the camera.

Dictionary.com didn’t throw shade at Kylie Jenner. It actually made an important point.

There’s a difference between throwing shade and making an important point. 

When Dictionary.com tweeted out a definition of the word “self-made” it was accused of the former. But, was it really throwing shade, or was this simply a distinction that needed to be made?

On Wednesday, Kylie Jenner’s first Forbes cover was unveiled. “At 21, she’s set to be the youngest-ever self-made billionaire,” reads the cover. “Welcome to the era of extreme fame leverage.”

In the piece, Forbes discusses how Jenner — a member of the Kardashian-Jenner family — built a “900 million fortune in less than 3 years.”  Read more…
