MacOS Mojave, the next major update to Apple’s desktop operating system, will officially launch on September 24, the company announced today. It’s time for some new iPhones.

Apple is set to reveal its iPhone lineup for 2018 at an event at its Cupertino, California, headquarters on Wednesday, Sept. 12. The event begins at 10 a.m. Pacific Time, and Apple will be live-streaming the keynote on its website and, for the first time, on Twitter. Mashable Tech Editor Pete Pachal and Senior Tech Correspondent Raymond Wong will be at the event, and you can follow their live updates right here.

While the devices Apple reveals on Wednesday will be new, they’ll be familiar — all rumors point to three new iPhones, all based on the iPhone X design, complete with edge-to-edge design, Face ID unlocking, and the so-called “notch.” Also expected: a new Apple Watch design with a slightly bigger screen, an upgraded version of AirPods, and possibly even refreshed iPads and a new entry-level laptop to replace the aging MacBook Air. You can finally get a taste of macOS 10.14 Mojave

While Apple won’t officially release the next generation of macOS until the fall, that doesn’t mean you have to wait to give it a go. Mojave packs a punch with features like Dark Mode, a redesigned Mac App Store, and under the hood improvements.

Apple’s public beta program has been around since 2015 and offers the chance for consumers to try out the latest and greatest software before the official launch. It’s crucial to note that a public beta is still a beta, meaning there will be bugs, and with those bugs, the chance of losing data. If you’re going to install it, you’ll likely want to do it on a secondary device. And regardless of the Mac you’re installing it on, you should back up all your data beforehand.  Read more…

Apple macOS Mojave preview: Come for the Dark Mode, stay for the taste of iOS

TwitterFacebook

This was supposed to be a “bye” year for Apple, one where the software teams would concentrate on stability and speed, with less pressure to make big moves or introduce new features.

While that may be true to some extent for iOS 12, it looks like the macOS team didn’t get the memo. After checking out the beta of macOS 10.14 Mojave, it definitely feels like big changes are coming to the Mac. Some, like Dark Mode, are mostly cosmetic. But others, like the first generation of iOS-based apps made for macOS, are pointing the way for where the Mac is going, and why reports of its coming demise are greatly exaggerated. Read more…

TwitterFacebook

The Mac App Store is getting a major facelift, Apple announced at WWDC on Monday.

In its new macOS, Mojave, the App store will become more robust in a few different ways.

First, it will straight up offer more apps — even Microsoft’s Office 365. WHOA. Apple also spotlighted the arrival of Adobe and several gaming apps.

Microsoft is bringing Office 365 and Adobe is bringing Creative Cloud to the new Mac App Store later this year. I wonder what kind of developer revenue cut they worked out? 🤔 #WWDC18 #macOS #Mojave

Apple launches macOS Mojave with Dark Mode, support for some iOS apps

After four mountainous macOS releases, Apple has left the high road and entered the desert. The newest version of the company’s desktop operating system is called macOS Mojave.

The macOS 10.14 Mojave update comes with a bunch of visual changes, including Dark Mode, as well as a new way to organize your desktop and improve your workflow by using your iPhone’s camera to add content to your desktop apps.
