Marvel Studios has added Danai Gurira’s name to the ‘Avengers: Endgame’ poster

A victory for Wakandans (and publicists) everywhere! 

Following backlash from fans, Marvel Studios has corrected and re-released the official poster for Avengers: Endgame, the first version of which failed to properly credit Black Panther and Infinity War actress, Danai Gurira. 

Notably, Gurira was the only Black Panther cast member to appear on the poster  — mostly thanks to Thanos — as well as the only Endgame cast member to appear on it without credit. (Yes, even Bradley Cooper and Josh Brolin got credited for their respective roles as Rocket the Raccoon and Thanos the gigantic, purple thumb.) Read more…

Why superhero movies need to be more like ‘Ant-Man’

We’re in the peak era of superhero movies and superhero movie fatigue

Ant-Man and the Wasp is a welcome change of pace, just as Ant-Man was in 2015. Despite budget and scale, these movies work best with streamlined plots, astute characters, and a story that doesn’t rely on superpowers and VFX.

The reason Ant-Man was such a tight, successful film is because it wasn’t a superhero movie so much as a heist. It belongs in the conversation with the Ocean’s films as much as it does the Captain America series. 

Ant-Man and the Wasp is a family film – about nuclear families, grieving families, broken families, found families. It’s about fighting for the safety of your family, which is as close as most of us will come to saving Earth from Thanos, and feels just as important. Read more…

‘Avengers: Infinity War’ stars wonder where Ant-Man and The Wasp were

We were all hyper-aware of Hawkeye’s absence from all the Avengers: Infinity War advertisements and trailers, but what about Ant-Man and The Wasp?

Well they weren’t there either — apparently they weren’t invited to the titular war. Possibly because they were forgotten about, as none of the stars of Infinity could remember whether or not Ant-Man and The Wasp were actually in the movie’s trailer.
