‘I’m baby’ is the new ‘they did surgery on a grape’ and it’s beautiful

In better news, a beautifully meaningless meme is on the rise. And did you know I’m baby?
The internet loves nothing more than absurd inside jokes. If you know, you know, and if you don’t, you’re not baby. I’m baby.

Tim Cook promotes the new AirPods using the iPad meme he started

TwitterFacebook

No doubt anxious to advertise Apple’s new AirPods, Tim Cook has chosen to participate in his own meme cycle.

On Tuesday, the Apple CEO tweeted a photo of himself writing “hello” on an iPad, which spawned a bunch of shoddily Photoshopped memes. On Wednesday, Mr. Apple brought the whole thing home (and killed the joke) with an AirPods version. The tweet went up shortly before Apple announced the new headphones model.

Sadly, people who spend a non-troubling amount of time on the internet and did not see the first version of the meme are now riffing on Cook’s new tweet in the replies. Despite being only OK, the meme will probably endure for the rest of Wednesday.  Read more…

Lessons from ‘Chopped’ with Ted Allen: The 15 most rage-inducing mistakes in the TV kitchen

TwitterFacebook

Food Network’s Chopped invokes a certain kind of screaming-at-your-TV-screen carnal energy — the baskets! the knife injuries! the leaving an ingredient off the plate when it’s sitting RIGHT THERE!

After 10 years and 40 seasons on the air, Chopped still delivers some of the most whiplash-inducing twists on television. Like say when host Ted Allen reads out a seemingly cohesive basket, only to have the last ingredient be something like pickle-flavored cupcakes

Say hello to this photo of Tim Cook writing on an iPad that was made to be meme’d

TwitterFacebook

Hello, Mr. Apple. Nice to see you back in the meme circuit again.

If you’ve been missing Tim Cook since the Tim Apple meme died down a bit, you’re in luck. Twitter users are trolling the Apple CEO yet again, after he posted a photo of himself writing “hello” on an iPad on Monday morning.

The iPad in Cook’s hand provided a white canvas that basically screamed “meme me,” so naturally, that’s exactly what his followers did.

The screen was painfully simple to Photoshop, so many decided to replace the word “hello” with other hilarious messages to Trump, Spotify, and more. Read more…

J.K. Rowling’s latest take on Dumbledore’s love life has sparked some very sexual memes

TwitterFacebook

At this point in the ‘Harry Potter’ franchise, do we really need to know about wizard sex?

J.K. Rowling’s latest take on how Dumbledore and Grindlewald supposedly had an ‘intense love’ and ‘sexual’ relationship feels like another groan-worthy round in a very bad game show — What Will J.K. Rowling Retcon Next?

Every time she hits us with a fake-woke Potterverse fun fact, a phoenix loses one of its feathers. Even for all the galleons and sickles in the world, fans just aren’t buying it.

But Twitter has made it clear that wizard sex is probably at bottom on the list in terms of wizarding world lore we’d like to know about. Read more…

Co – Star’s absurd push notification inspired the most dramatic meme

TwitterFacebook

Take some time today to create an out-of-this-world meme.

Co – Star, the astrology app known mainly for its extremely bizarre push notifications, is finally getting the meme treatment. To participate, simply craft your own wild push notification using Co – Star’s “Your day at a glance” format.

The more dramatic the better!

Me:

Co-Star: Your day at a glance.
Run yourself over with a car, you single bitch.

— Ira Madison III (@ira) March 17, 2019

The point of the meme is to play up Co – Star’s wild and extreme personalized horoscopes. So people trolling the app are doing their best to imagine hilarious and dark as hell push notifications. Read more…

The trans meme community on Reddit is about so much more than jokes

TwitterFacebook

There are dozens of subreddits for the trans community on Reddit, each designed to meet a certain psychological need.

There’s r/asktransgender, dedicated to people’s questions about the community, r/transgender, a subreddit for trans news, and r/transtimelines, where people can document their transitions. These are large and vibrant groups, with followers in the tens of thousands.

But for some folks who are just coming out as trans, memes and GIFs — not traditional, location-based support groups or advice-based subreddits — are where they first find community.

Take r/traaaaaaannnnnnnnnns, Reddit’s oldest active subreddit for trans-centered shitposts, memes, and GIFs.  Traaaaaaannnnnnnnnns currently has over 84,300 “shitposters,” many of whom post meaningful content about transphobia or transitioning, then disguise it in shitpost robes or meme make-up.  Read more…

Two CNN reporters wore matching green jackets, and of course they got green screened

TwitterFacebook

I love a good matching outfit — and so, too, does Twitter.

On Wednesday, two CNN correspondents looked like twins when they wore seemingly identical green jackets on air. On their own, the matching jackets might inspire a “ha” or even a “hahaha.” But because green coats are so easy to manipulated thanks to green screen technology, things got weirder.

Look at what The Daily’s Show Matt Negrin did to this beautiful, otherwise transitory, viral moment. This rendition of the “Big Enough” meme may never be topped.

do not wear green on TV and if you’re going to wear green on TV do not wear it next to SOMEONE ELSE WEARING THE SAME GREEN THING ON TV OR THIS WILL HAPPEN TO YOU pic.twitter.com/y9vsX7qgWB

Instagram and Facebook went down, so of course everyone made jokes on Twitter

TwitterFacebook

It’s been zero days since our last internet incident.

If you haven’t been able to post a status about your lunch, give your friend’s OOTD a like, or check if your star sign is getting dragged on meme accounts, it’s been a rough day for you.

Facebook and Instagram have been experiencing issues across the globe on Wednesday, with both websites and the apps being intermittently down, and some features not functioning for many users. Facebook-owned WhatsApp has also been experiencing problems.

Much like the iconic scene from The Office, we should all listen to the wise words of Michael Scott and stay calm people. However, the internet did what it does best — set itself on fire and ran to Twitter to react.  Read more…

Nobody showed up to the NYC AirPod Owners Meetup, and it only made the meme better

TwitterFacebook

A Facebook event for an “AirPod Owners Meetup” on Saturday in New York’s Union Square had over 500 people slated to attend. That’s not what happened.

I was in Union Square during the hours the meetup was supposed to happen and it remained nearly empty. The people who were passing through definitely weren’t there to discuss their headphones.

The meetup that didn’t actually occur is part of a larger series of independently organized Facebook events for AirPods owners. The original, which was slated to happen in Boston on January 19 but most likely didn’t attract a real crowd, drew more than 8,000 “interested” or “going” responses on Facebook — mostly from people who do not actually live in Boston.
