Reporter used spit to fix hair and Twitter can’t handle it

TwitterFacebook

Pity the remote reporter who has no control when the feed goes live and catches him or her in a vulnerable moment.

This happened to NBC’s Matt Bradley who was broadcasting a live spot from Syria about the fight against ISIS. When the feed switched over, unbeknownst to Bradley, viewers got a full dose of the reporter using his spit to fix his hair.

Oh man, poor Bradley. Plenty of us have done something similar before in a moment of desperation but we weren’t caught doing it on national cable television. Sure enough, Twitter responded to video of the moment with shock.

Watch the noice moment when the ‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’ cast is told Season 7 is happening

TwitterFacebook

Shows get renewed all the time, but it’s not often we get to see the news delivered to their hardworking cast and crew.

On Wednesday, NBC renewed Brooklyn Nine-Nine for a seventh season, and the news was broken during a table read with the show’s cast and crew.

Needless to say, they were ecstatic.

Dirk Blocker, who stars as Detective Hitchcock on the series, posted a video of the cast celebrating, including Terry Crews, Stephanie Beatriz, and Andy Samberg.

NBC’s ‘Good Girls’ deserves to be your next catch-up binge

TwitterFacebook

NBC’s Good Girls is a compelling dramedy, the kind that immediately wants you to press play on the next episode.

It didn’t get the attention it deserved when it began in February last year. Blame it on premiering midseason or on the cluttered #PeakTV mania or on a disillusioning series title. Its extremely binge-worthy stature became apparent when it started streaming on Netflix a little while ago.

The show is anchored by the leading trio of Christina Hendricks, Mae Whitman, and Retta – a big enough selling point on its ownGood Girls has a wild plot but finds depth in flawed, relatable protagonists and unexpected stories about women empowerment. Read more…

Mindy Kaling weighs in on where her ‘Office’ character would be now

TwitterFacebook

It hasn’t been that long since fans said goodbye to The Office, but it’s been long enough to make us wonder where the characters are now (and not-so-secretly hope for a revival). In a new interview with Variety, Office alum Mindy Kaling discussed where she thinks Kelly Kapoor would be now and how she feels about an Office

“There’s not an insignificant part of me that thinks that Kelly might be in jail; a crime of passion,” Kaling said in a video. “The character just kept getting a little bit more and more unhinged. I don’t want to say that she murdered Ryan but like I’m also not convinced that he’s still alive in the world of The Office.” Read more…

‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’ Season 6 thrives in unexpected spotlight

TwitterFacebook

The story of Brooklyn Nine-Nine is now part of eternal television lore. The whip-smart and big-hearted cop comedy was canceled by FOX and picked up by NBC in May 2017, and now it’s poised to present its sixth season with a lot of new attention.

But before all that, Brooklyn Nine-Nine was – since its very first episode – a truly excellent show. It busted open the stale and serious genre of cop procedurals and fit seamlessly into the extended universe of Michael Schur comedies about coworkers who become family.

‘The Office’ episode ‘Diwali’ is still a master class in representation

TwitterFacebook

You can’t get far into any discussion or analysis of TV these days without talking about diversity – a subject which networks and producers still struggle to wrap their minds around, let alone execute.

But answers and tools for improving representation on TV have been available. That’s why it’s embarrassing that this industry-wide weakness is only recently being addressed with any real effort.

In 2006, The Office aired “Diwali,” a remarkable episode that holds up and is still a pivotal benchmark in how to tell diverse stories in Hollywood.

‘Superstore’ has the best TV workplace romance since ‘The Office’

TwitterFacebook

Hello and welcome to your regularly scheduled reminder to watch NBC’s Superstore, a delightful workplace comedy about a megastore in middle America and the lovable weirdos in it. Now in its fourth season, Superstore is as brilliant as ever, and it’s finally able to lean in to the charming romance it’s been building up for years.

It may seem blasphemous to declare Superstore’s prominence in such hallowed company, but TV romance has come a long way in the decade-plus since The Office. There was Ben and Leslie on Parks and Recreation and Jake and Amy on Brooklyn Nine-NineSuperstore feels like a natural followup because of how it makes you feelRead more…
