Amy Poehler would be totally up for a ‘Parks and Recreation’ revival

TwitterFacebook

We may now know the reason why a Parks and Recreation revival is yet to happen — and the issue doesn’t appear to be the willingness of certain cast members.

The problem may be that the show’s co-creator Mike Schur is just too damn busy.

“Mike Schur is currently working on about five shows,” Amy Poehler (aka Leslie Knope), told Variety on the carpet for Thursday night’s Parks and Recreation 10th anniversary reunion event.

The good news? She definitely didn’t rule out the possibility of a return, once Schur has a bit more time on his hands. Read more…

Perfect gifts for your favorite ‘Parks and Rec’ superfan who just can’t let go

Leslie Knope has many talents, but one of her best is the ability to give the perfect gift.
There’s an innate goodness embedded into the DNA of Parks and Recreation. Maybe that’s why it’s still so hard to let go of our beloved Pawnee, Indiana squad a…

Nick Offerman is actually a great breakdancer and here’s the video to prove it

TwitterFacebook

Nick Offerman is perhaps best known as the beloved Ron Swanson in Parks and Recreation, who is pretty much the last person you’d ever imagine to be a great breakdancer.

But, as he proved once and for all on James Corden’s The Late Late Show, Offerman is a genuinely talented breakdancer.

Apparently he was once a part of a dancing duo with his cousin, dancing under stage names “Flip Flop” and “Tick Tock.”

“I was in charge of popping and locking,” Offerman told Corden. And this video proves that he is still very much in charge of that.

Corden’s other guest, Debra Messing, who stars with Megan Mullally — who happens to be married to Offerman — in Will & Grace, looked totally impressed.  Read more…

An ode to Chris Pratt’s genius on ‘Parks and Recreation’

TwitterFacebook

Welcome to Chris-mas in July, a week-long celebration of our four favorite Hollywood Chrises. We’ll be analyzing old movies, digging deep into past roles, and exploring everything there is to know about Evans, Hemsworth, Pine and Pratt. We hope this totally made up holiday makes you smile.

Back before he was a Big Hollywood Chris™ (I mean, he was still “Chris” but he wasn’t a Chris), Chris Pratt was a small screen darling with major roles on Everwood and The O.C. before stealing our hearts as Andy Dwyer on Parks and Recreation.

Parks and Rec ran from 2009 to 2015, with the final seasons coinciding with Pratt’s rise to blockbuster movie star in Guardians of the Galaxy (and later in 2015, Jurassic World). In honor of Chris-mas, we look back at what made Andy so gosh-darn likable and why he remains Pratt’s best role to date. Read more…

‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’ is another testament to the brilliance of Mike Schur

TwitterFacebook

The frenzy over Brooklyn Nine-Nine’s cancelation at Fox and subsequent pickup by NBC may have caught some corners of the industry off guard. But it shouldn’t have.

Creator Mike Schur, who is currently helming The Good Place and also worked on The Office and Parks and Recreation, is one of the most beloved names working in television comedy today, with good reason. And Brooklyn Nine-Nine is part of his tradition of joyful, sentimental, and down-to-earth comedies.

The power of the Schur comedy is that, even while watching the Brooklyn Nine-Nine protagonist go to prison or The Good Place characters get tortured for all eternity, the audience rarely feels anxious or hopeless. These shows are beacons of light in a depressed TV and news landscape.  Read more…

Why women need Galentine’s Day more than ever this year

TwitterFacebook

In 2010, Galentine’s Day was just another Parks and Rec episode, but in recent years it’s become a symbol of female empowerment and solidarity.

The fictional holiday, brought to life by Leslie Knope (played by Amy Poehler), was a day filled with “ladies celebrating ladies.” Since the episode aired, Feb, 13 has become a real-life celebration of women’s triumphs rather than oppression — and it’s more important than ever this year.

The popularity of the day gives us an excuse to get our friends together, eat waffles, and drink cocktails. Naturally, businesses like Target, Amazon, and Walmart have tried to get in on the action and produce themed-products across the country. While food and drinks can be a great bonus to the party, the “holiday” is more than just a day brands can profit from. It is a time for women to come together to reflect on goals, dreams, and accomplishments.  Read more…

Stop everything, y’all. ‘The Good Place’ and ‘Parks and Rec’ exist in the same universe.

TwitterFacebook

On a list of best TV crossovers, we think we might have found the absolute best.

It turns out two of your most beloved shows — The Good Place and Parks and Recreation take place in the same universe. We may now all start referring to it as the BEST place.

On Tuesday Twitter user @ShinraAlpha pointed out that Eleanor Shellstrop’s fave magazine, Celebrity Baby Plastic Surgery Disasters, features not one but two advertisements straight from the world of Parks and Rec.

Needless to say everyone is FLOORED.

‘Parks and Rec’ couple Nick Offerman and Megan Mullally’s Twitter exchange is what true love is

TwitterFacebook

That’s right, Ron and Tammy are still going strong.

Nick Offerman and Megan Mullally may play a monstrously dysfunctional couple in Parks and Recreation, but in real life they have been together for 18 years — a fact they both celebrated yesterday on Twitter.
