It’s 2018, and BlackBerry just sued Facebook

BlackBerry has sued Facebook for patent infringement.

The Canadian tech company — loved by Kim Kardashian and once upon a time one of the most cherished texting device — has claimed Facebook’s social apps including WhatsApp and Instagram have “improperly used” BlackBerry’s “mobile messaging intelligence.” 

But why now? According to BlackBerry, the company tried to work with the social network for years. 

A BlackBerry spokesperson wrote in an email to Mashable:

Facebook did not immediately respond to a request for comment. 

The lawsuit, first reported by Reuters, was filed in the Central District of California court.   Read more…
