TwitterFacebook

On my way home from the gym Tuesday evening, I was pleasantly surprised to see an invite to join Uber Rewards on the ride-hailing app.

I’m in San Francisco and the loyalty program hadn’t made it there yet — or so I thought. As of this week, the program that offers perks and rewards based on the number of Uber rides taken expanded with a long list of new areas.

Uber Rewards was first announced in November in nine areas. Now it’s also in:

Gift yourself with free rewards this holiday season

TwitterFacebook

Do you love that warm, fuzzy feeling you get from seeing your loved ones light up when they receive a thoughtful gift from you? Well, a new payment app called Paytm Canada wants to reward you for getting into the holiday spirit by giving away redeemable points in daily contests running throughout December and January.

During the contest period, anytime you make a bill payment of at least $50, you will automatically be entered into a daily draw to win 50,000 Paytm Points. That’s a $50 value, which works out to one gift for them and one gift for you. That is incentive for even the biggest Scrooges to move everyone from their naughty list to their nice list.  Read more…

Uber’s rider loyalty program crushes Lyft’s with more rewards

TwitterFacebook

In the wake of a similar announcement from its chief rival Lyft, Uber announced a rider rewards program Wednesday to give loyal users perks for spending money in the app.

The program is almost exactly like the new Lyft Rewards program in that both track points you’ve accumulated in the app and give you rewards once you hit a certain milestone — and both are similarly named. But the two diverge from there.

Uber Rewards are here to give you perks.

Walk to work and earn miles with this app, just like airline frequent flyer programs

TwitterFacebook

All those miles you log driving back and from the office are finally worth something.

Miles is a new rewards platform for all types of travel. It’s a way to “incentivize and nudge user behavior,” Jigar Shah, CEO and co-founder, told Mashable while demoing the app.

The new app takes however you get around and turns it into miles — like airlines frequent flyer programs but for travel you actually do every day, like taking the train, or bus, or bike ride from the train stop. Even driving and ordering a Lyft or Uber gets you points.
