‘Black Panther’ star Chadwick Boseman delivers incredibly powerful speech after SAG win

TwitterFacebook

Chadwick Boseman is a superhero, and you’d better believe he gave a speech worthy of a superhero after Black Panther picked up the SAG Award for outstanding performance by a cast in a motion picture on Sunday.

“To be young, gifted, and black,” Boseman, who plays the lead role of T’Challa, said to the crowd. “We all know what it’s like to be told that there is not a place for you to be featured — yet you are young, gifted and black. We know what it’s like to be told, to say there’s not a screen for you to be featured on, a stage for you to be featured on. We know what it’s like to be the tail and not the head. We know what it’s like to be beneath and not above. Read more…

The tiniest star of ‘The Florida Project’ didn’t go to the SAG awards, but she still had plenty of fun on the red carpet

TwitterFacebook

Brooklynn Prince has been making the rounds during award show season, but that didn’t stop her from having a bit of FOMO during the SAG Awards Sunday night.

The star of critically-acclaimed film The Florida Project sat out the Screen Actors Guild ceremony this year, but she still tuned in to see all the red carpet looks — and she found an adorable way to support her colleagues in the industry from afar.

While her account is operated by her mom (Prince is only seven years old, after all), the photos are still hilarious. It all started with this picture of Millie Bobby Brown and Dakota Fanning. “Whyyyyyy am I not in this picture???,” Brooklynn said on Twitter.  Read more…

Morgan Freeman had 1 very blunt comment about his SAG Award statue

TwitterFacebook

Just because you won an award doesn’t mean you can’t criticise it.

On Sunday, Morgan Freeman picked up a Lifetime Achievement Award at the SAGs.

He had some no-nonsense feedback about the statue, though:

Here’s a close-up of said statue. It does look pretty masculine, doesn’t it?

Kristen Bell delivers strong Time’s Up message in opening monologue at SAG Awards

TwitterFacebook

Kristen Bell just delivered a strong opening monologue as the first ever host of the SAG Awards on Sunday.

Fronting a deliberately all-female presenter bill for the 2018 ceremony, The Good Place star presented a strong opening speech — and with the Time’s Up and #MeToo movements against systemic sexual abuse in Hollywood gaining immense traction, Bell’s monologue was always going to include a nod.

Mid-way through Bell’s monologue, she really hit the Time’s Up button on the head.

“Everyone’s story deserves to be told — especially now,” she said. “We are living in a watershed moment, and as we march forward with active momentum and open ears, let’s make sure that we’re leading the charge with empathy and diligence. Because fear and anger never win the race.” Read more…
