‘Saturday Night Live’ Momo sketch makes fried chicken completely terrifying

In case the viral Momo hoax wasn’t scary enough, Saturay Night Live imagined a world where the human-bird hybrid sculpture that has terrified children across the world had a doppelgänger in a popular chicken restaurant’s mascot. Sure, Bok Bo…

Pete Davidson shocked ‘SNL’ when he compared R. Kelly to the Catholic Church

TwitterFacebook

Pete Davidson kicked off his Weekend Update segment on the latest Saturday Night Live with a comment that got a shocked response from the show’s live audience: “If you support the Catholic Church, isn’t that the same thing as being an R. Kelly fan?”

The rest of the segment actually moved away from Kelly’s specific case to focus more on the growing phenomenon of “problematic faves.” You know, celebs whose behavior — in whatever horrible form it might take — makes it hard to carry on as a fan.

Davidson is making a “separate the art from the artist” case here, but with a twist. He thinks, probably not incorrectly, that as time goes on, more of our faves are going to have their skeletons unearthed. So instead of writing off their various contributions to pop culture, Davidson suggests owning it instead — but making a small charitable contribution whenever we engage with their work. Read more…

‘Saturday Night Live’ revisits the Michael Cohen hearing and all the G.O.P. self-owns

At Wednesday’s Michael Cohen hearing, Donald Trump’s former fixer sat in front of a group of U.S. lawmakers to detail, with evidence, how the president is a “racist,” a “conman,” and a “cheat.” Rather than rising to Trump’s defense, Cohen’s Repub…

John Mulaney is coming back to host ‘Saturday Night Live’ in March

TwitterFacebook

John Mulaney is bringing his brand of dry, self-effacing humor back to Saturday Night Live.

The gifted comic, who is himself a former SNL writer, last hosted the show in April 2018. He was and is only the third former writer who wasn’t also a cast member to get the hosting gig (after Conan O’Brien and Larry David, so pretty good company).

Now he’s set to return on March 2, as was confirmed when he tweeted out the show’s typical host announcement image from his own Twitter account. Thomas Rhett will be the night’s musical guest.

Don Cheadle stood up for trans kids on ‘SNL’ and the internet took notice

TwitterFacebook

Don Cheadle, acclaimed actor and true-blue mensch.

The man behind Marvel’s War Machine mask brought his politics to the Saturday Night Live stage on Feb. 16. He used fashion to make a statement, at one point introducing Gary Clark, Jr., the night’s musical guest, while wearing a simple t-shirt adorned with the words “PROTECT TRANS KIDS.”

It was a well-received fashion choice, to say the least.
