Picking your snacks can be a tempting and harrowing experience. Potato chips, cheese doodles, Hostess cupcakes — all delicious, but you *do* need to vary it up if you don’t want your overall health to turn against you. Another alternative: Dried fruit. It’s tasty and extremely simple to make — especially with this six-tray food dehydrator from Chefman.

Chefmans Six-Tray Digital Food Dehydrator is currently $90 off at Best Buy. Usually priced at $179.99, you can now pick one up for $89.99 — a steal considering how much yummy dried fruit it can produce.

Chefman’s digital food dehydrator comes with ample room (13 inches by 12 inches with six separate BPA-free trays) and works with various types of foods. The device uses 480W of power — constantly circulating air to quickly and evenly dry out your food(s) of choice. You can dry fruit, yes, but you can also dry herbs, meats, veggies, and more. PepsiCo’s new food delivery robots are every college stoner’s dream

TwitterFacebook

You’re hungry, you’re parched, you’re terrified of the outside world, and the prospect of moving off of your bean bag is a true impossibility. What is there to do? For some college students, you order from a snack delivery robot, of course!

Ladies and gents, meet the Snackbot.

On Thursday, PepsiCo announced that is is rolling out a fleet of R2D2-lookin’ robots at the University of the Pacific in Stockton, Calif. — to deliver snacks directly to hungry co-eds.

The robots are basically cute vending machines that can roll around campus on their own. They look a lot like a cooler on wheels, and students can order the robots to deliver snacks to them from PepsiCo’s Hello Goodness line via an app. The university is apparently “thrilled” to have them, according to its director of e-commerce Matt Camino. People are hilariously upset about the Goldfish recall

TwitterFacebook

We are living in trying times. Not even our favorite childhood snacks are safe.

Pepperidge Farm announced a voluntary recall on Monday for four different flavors of Goldfish Crackers due to a fear of salmonella. According to a CBS report, an ingredient supplier for Pepperidge notified the company that the whey powder used in the cracker’s seasoning could have been contaminated with the bacteria.

Here’s the company’s official statement:

Airlines, ranked by free snacks

TwitterFacebook

Unless you’re a professional masochist, there are very few good things about flying — especially if you’re flying economy or basic economy. The only balm for your in-flight misery is often a single bag of pretzels and a half-can of soda.

And that is why it’s so devastating when the free snack and beverage offerings on your flight are… less than great.

We want you to know what kind of snack situation (snacktuation) you’re getting into when you fly, so we’ve evaluated and ranked each major U.S. airline by its complimentary snack and beverage offerings on domestic/North American flights. (We’re sticking to the options for economy class, because that’s where the snacks really count.) Read more…

Some genius made Tide Pod sushi you can actually eat

TwitterFacebook

For better or for worse, a lot of people on the internet think Tide Pods look delicious. For better or for worse, I am one of them.

So I was thrilled to see that according to r/food, a friend of Redditor dweron appears to have successfully made edible Tide Pods in sushi form — a feat I am now affectionately calling “the dream.”

To be clear, this isn’t the first time the topic of edible Pods has been broached online. There’s been a hypothetical recipe floating around for a few days now. But that one — let’s be honest — seems pretty flavorless, and this one looks a little more appetizing. It even appears to have retained that iconic Tide Pod squish. Read more…
