‘Pet Semetary’ screened at SXSW and the early reviews are looking good

TwitterFacebook

Did Pet Semetary really need a remake? Does the answer to that question even matter?

The 2019 remake directed by Kevin Kölsch and Dennis Widmyer is real, and it’s ready for its April 5 release. Critics and fans attending South By Southwest got an early look at the horrors to come on Saturday night, and the first reactions are now coming in.

It’s looking good, King fans! There’s only a handful of published reviews to draw from at this point, but they’re mostly positive, heaping praise on the writing and direction, the performances, and — notably — the smart tweaks that were made to one of King’s most popular and widely known stories. Stephen King is straight up trolling Trump on Twitter now

TwitterFacebook

For a while, Donald Trump had Stephen King blocked on Twitter.

Not anymore, though. A judge ruled back in May 2018 that the President couldn’t block people, so these days the horror master is free to hit that reply button as often as he likes.

And that’s exactly what he does. Not only does King regularly tweet about the President, but he also occasionally responds to Trump’s tweets directly.

Trump’s “WITCH HUNT” tweet over the weekend was the perfect example.

WITCH HUNT!

Stephen King apparently owns a Tesla and Elon Musk is very proud

TwitterFacebook

The king of horror has apparently gone electric.

On Sunday, Stephen King tweeted to Elon Musk, telling him that he’s “sort of liking” Tesla’s silly “Fart” app.

Okay. I’m sort of liking the “fart” app. Pretty stupid, but also quite amusing.

— Stephen King (@StephenKing) January 27, 2019

While King didn’t outright say he owned a Tesla, it’s quite possible that he does, especially since Musk replied and thanked him for “owning a Tesla.”

It’s an honor, sir! Thanks for owning a Tesla.

Stephen King creates a Twitter play to brutally mock Donald Trump

TwitterFacebook

There’s no way you’d be able to fit a Stephen King novel into a single tweet, but it turns out you can squeeze in a play. A very short one, at least.

On Wednesday night, the horror master continued his ongoing commentary on the government shutdown by crafting some imagined dialogue between Donald Trump (“Baby Don”) and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (“Mommy Nancy”).

As you can probably guess, Baby Don doesn’t come out too well.

Baby Don said, “I want to talk and pretend I’m a grownup!”
Mommy Nancy said, “No, Baby Don, you have been bad. You did a tantrum!”
Baby Don said, “WAAAH! I’ll get you, mean old Mommy Nancy!”
Said Mommy Nancy, “Well…you can try.”

Stephen King’s take on the Trump shutdown is as blunt as you’d expect

TwitterFacebook

Stephen King is certainly not one to mince his words — and that goes double when it comes to Trump.

The horror master spent a large chunk of 2018 berating the President on Twitter, and — judging by his tweets so far in 2019 — he isn’t planning to stop any time soon.

On Wednesday night, King addressed Trump’s government shutdown — and, as usual, he didn’t hold back.

Thanks to the Trump Shutdown, government workers are queuing for donated commodities. He is this country’s shame.

37 of the most brutal Trump burns tweeted by Stephen King in 2018

TwitterFacebook

He may be a best-selling author, but the majority of Stephen King’s tweets aren’t about books. They’re about politics.

Trump, more specifically. Although the horror master does tweet about a whole range of things — everything from truly terrifying photos of his dog Molly to his idea for a new type of car — the current President is the most frequently recurring topic on King’s timeline.

He has been for a while now, in fact, and 2018 was absolutely no exception. From the politically analytical to the no-holds-barred blunt, here are some of Stephen King’s most brutal Trump Twitter burns of the past year… Read more…

Stephen King just tweeted 5 very exciting words about the ‘IT’ sequel

TwitterFacebook

It’s not often you find yourself eagerly awaiting a fresh glimpse of a nightmare-inducing clown, but here we are.

It’s now been well over a year since Andrés Muschietti’s IT adaptation giggled its way into theatres, before going on to smash the previous record for highest-grossing U.S. box office horror movie. Since then, we’ve had some good — if slightly far-off sounding — news: IT Chapter Two will be coming to theatres on 6 Sept. 2019.

Okay, so that may still be nine months away, but — judging by Stephen King’s recent tweet — we may be due a clown-themed surprise earlier than expected. Read more…

Stephen King blasts Trump on Twitter with a George H.W. Bush comparison

TwitterFacebook

This isn’t the first time Stephen King has used a comparison to a former President to blast Donald Trump on Twitter, and — judging by the horror master’s previous tweets — it probably won’t be the last.

Following Friday’s news that George H. W. Bush had died at the age of 94, Stephen King took to Twitter to make a comment about presidential debates.

Specifically, he used a famous moment in the debate between Bush and Clinton to make a point about Trump.

Remember when George Bush lost a presidential debate (and perhaps the presidency) by just looking at his watch? Now we’ve got a serial liar and womanizer as president, a draft dodger surrounded by a bunch of corrupt crocodiles. Times change, eh?

Stephen King blasts Trump with 1 of his most uncompromising tweets yet

TwitterFacebook

If you were wondering how Stephen King’s feeling about the current state of politics, look no further than his most recent tweet.

On Tuesday, the horror author took to Twitter to blast Trump with what is perhaps one is his most no-holds-barred posts of the year so far (admittedly there are quite a few of these to choose from, but it’s got to be up there).

Here’s the tweet, which at the time of writing has been shared around 12,000 times:

Trump condones murder, then explains it’s okay for his daughter to do what he wanted Hillary Clinton locked up for. Oh, and his AG is a fucking crook. Impeach.

Stephen King takes aim at Trump with 2 final tweets about the midterms

TwitterFacebook

Stephen King wants you to vote. And if you’ve ever had so much as a quick glance at his Twitter feed, you probably already know which way.

On Monday, the day before midterms, the horror master took to Twitter to post two final, pre-voting tweets.

The first contained a fairly blunt metaphor.

Donld Trump is a runaway horse, and we’re all on board. Vote Democratic tomorrow. Let’s put a bit in his mouth and rein him in.#VoteBlue

— Stephen King (@StephenKing) November 5, 2018

The second, meanwhile, was just fairly blunt.

Last tweet on politics for awhile. Trump has successfully channeled America’s id: the hatred, the prejudice, the dishonesty, the willing ignorance and turning away from facts. Most of all, the fear. Turn away from these things#VoteBlue. Be courageous.

Stephen King has a new least favourite word and he wants you to stop using it

TwitterFacebook

This isn’t the first time Stephen King has banned a particular word or phrase.

Anyone who’s read his excellent book On Writing will know he has more than a few pet peeves, and in recent years he’s taken to expressing these on Twitter.

Here’s an example from last year:

Aspiring fiction writer? Cool! Here are 2 phrases you must NEVER use: “for a long moment” and “for some reason.” Find another way!

— Stephen King (@StephenKing) February 22, 2017

Anyway, flash forward to Sunday night and he’s clearly discovered a new one. Writers, take note. Read more…
