Super Bowl LIII disappointed, but the game still set new streaming records

TwitterFacebook

While Super Bowl LIII may have been a disappointment for some (bored viewers, Rams fans, Saints fans), the big game still set a new streaming record.

Sunday’s game, which saw the New England Patriots defeat the Los Angeles Rams 13-3 in the  lowest scoring Super Bowl ever, delivered an average 2.6 million viewers per minute to CBS’s official streaming broadcast. Streaming of the game was up 31 percent compared to last year’s numbers, when NBC’s broadcast of the game saw a then-record breaking average of 2 million viewers.

CBS also boasted in its release on the record breaking numbers that the Super Bowl was watched across 7.5 million unique devices, which is up 20 percent from the 2018 game. More than 560 million total minutes of the game were consumed via streaming, up 19 percent from last year’s game. Read more…

Super Bowl LIII set streaming records, while TV viewership saw massive drop

Football fans didn’t tune into this year’s Super Bowl coverage on TV in as large numbers as in years past. People think Adam Levine’s Super Bowl tank top looks exactly like their home decor

TwitterFacebook

One of the best things about the Super Bowl LIII halftime show was everyone making fun of Maroon 5, but one particular reason proved closer to home than others.

Frontman Adam Levine donned a patterned tank top for the performance on Sunday, and before he took it off mid-performance (a nipple-baring move that didn’t get him in trouble unlike Janet Jackson), some noticed they’d seen this pattern before.

Twitter user Morgan Jordal‏ posted an image of Levine’s singlet side-by-side with some “70s home decor.” It’s pretty spot on. Read more…

People don’t believe ICE’s arrest of 21 Savage in Atlanta is a coincidence

TwitterFacebook

British-born rapper 21 Savage was arrested in Atlanta on Sunday when Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials picked him up on an expired visa. Atlanta is also the site of Sunday’s Super Bowl LIII.

Twitter is struggling to accept the timing as a coincidence, to say the least.

According to ICE, 21 Savage — a 26-year-old whose real name is Sha Yaa Bin Abraham-Joseph — entered the country illegally in 2005, and then proceeded to stay after his year-long immigrant visa expired. (Yes, that means he was around 12 when he arrived.)  Read more…

Super Bowl LIII will feature male cheerleaders for the very first time

TwitterFacebook

At 2019’s Super Bowl, Quinton Peron and Napoleon Jinnies will make history.

On Sunday, Peron and Jinnies will become the first male cheerleaders to ever perform at a Super Bowl. They’ve been busy preparing since the Rams, their team, advanced to the annual championship game back in January.

Aye Napoleon, you think Atlanta is ready for us? … NAHHHHHH 😜😜😜… WE’RE GOING TO THE SUPERBOWL! 😭😭😭 pic.twitter.com/oWFAElcw61

— Quinton Peron (@Qperon) January 21, 2019

This will technically be their second time making history in the sport. In March 2018, the two men — both professional dancers from California — became the first ever male cheerleaders in NFL history when they joined the Rams squad and made their regular season debut. Read more…

After football-playing girl gets bullied, Patriots player gifts her Super Bowl tickets

TwitterFacebook

When the New England Patriots heard there was a girl from New Hampshire that was being bullied for playing football, Julian Edelman stepped up to show that the team had her back.

Dejah Rondeau is a seventh grader from Exeter, New Hampshire (a.k.a. Patriots country) who plays quarterback and unfortunately has been facing some bullying simply because of her gender. After the team caught wind of all this, they invited her to visit Gillette Stadium and play catch with her favorite player, Edelman.
