Julia Louis-Dreyfus thinks she’s a good liar. Jimmy Fallon finds out.

You know what, Julia Louis-Dreyfus could sell us anything.
But we’re not so sure how she is effective is at selling a lie, however, as exemplified when she stepped into a round of “Box of Lies” with The Tonight Show’s Jimmy Fallon on Thursday.

The ‘Game of Thrones’ Season 8 poster says it all

TwitterFacebook

The Game of Thrones Season 8 poster keeps things simple; this may be a rich and intricate story with enough characters and layers to fill thousands of pages – but it’s also about a bunch of warring royals and some dragons.

The final season’s poster returns to basics with a classic iron throne shot – but follow those swords down and you’ll see the hungry eyes of a dragon.

For a simple poster, there’s a lot to think about. For one thing, the Iron Throne is made of Valyrian steel swords, which are among the few weapons that can destroy White Walkers – this season’s number one enemy. What once was a throne for a monarch now looks like an arsenal to fight the Army of the Dead. Has anyone thought of taking this thing apart and using it as weapons? (We have a feeling Cersei might not approve.) Read more…

Amazon’s ‘Four More Shots Please’ is engrossing despite its faults

TwitterFacebook

I have a confession: I’ve been in a TV slump.

We’ve all been there – with so much media to consume, it’s impossible to keep up, and sometimes – even when it’s literally your job, ahem – analysis paralysis sets in and it’s impossible to summon the motivation or commitment required for a new binge.

Well, to be clear, I was in a slump. And then I started Amazon’s Four More Shots Please and let myself fall in headfirst. A show about four female friends navigating adulthood isn’t new by any stretch – but it’s never been done in Mumbai with an Indian cast, and I couldn’t tear myself away.

Battle lines are drawn in intense ‘Game of Thrones’ Season 8 trailer

TwitterFacebook

The end is nigh, Game of Thrones fans, and the full Season 8 trailer we’ve been waiting desperately for makes that clear.

In the final season, our heroes gear up for the battle between the living and the dead – and many will likely join the latter.

“Our enemy doesn’t tire, doesn’t stop, doesn’t feel,” says Jon Snow. He might mean the Night King, the Army of the Dead, the White Walkers, the Wights – or he might mean Cersei Lannister, who we see moments later, sipping wine upon the Iron Throne as if nothing has changed since Season 1. But as we all know, everything has changed. Read more…

The ‘Game of Thrones’ actors sure sound like they were in hell shooting Season 8’s big battle

TwitterFacebook

We can always count on Game of Thrones to push the boundaries of television, but a Season 8 battle sequence sounds like it may have pushed the show’s cast and crew to their limits and beyond.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the Thrones team broke down their literal breakdown from the three-month shoot that will become the battle of Winterfell – the show’s most ambitious yet, known internally as “The Long Night.”

“Nothing can prepare you for how physically draining it is,” said Maisie Williams, who plays a highly-trained fighter but will make her battlefield debut this season. “It’s night after night, and again and again, and it just doesn’t stop. You can’t get sick, and you have to look out for yourself because there’s so much to do that nobody else can do…there are moments you’re just broken as a human and just want to cry.” Read more…
