Quentin Tarantino returns with nostalgic ‘Once Upon a Time in Hollywood’ trailer

TwitterFacebook

Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt team up in the trailer for Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, Quentin Tarantino’s latest film about the industry’s “golden era.”

DiCaprio plays Rick Dalton, a TV actor trying to stay relevant, while Pitt plays his aloof stuntman Cliff. The trailer is all candy-colored ’60s nostalgia with barely a glimpse of the rest of the star-studded cast, which includes Al Pacino, Kurt Russell, Timothy Olyphant, Dakota Fanning – and the late Luke Perry. We  do see Margot Robbie as real-life actress Sharon Tate, who was murdered the year this movie takes place. Read more…

‘Killing Eve’ trailer is a joyous, murderous blessing

TwitterFacebook

Killing Eve, one of the best shows on TV right now, has doled out an epic International Women’s Day gift: a brand new (and quite funny) look at its upcoming second season.

It picks up right after Season 1’s cliffhanger in which — spoiler alert! — M16 agent Eve stabs assassin Villanelle after quite an obsessive cat-and-mouse chase.

Created by Phoebe Waller-Bridge, this acclaimed drama stars Sandra Oh, Jodie Comer, Fiona Shaw, Kim Bodnia, and Kirby Howell-Baptiste.

Killing Eve Season 2 premieres on April 7 on BBC America and AMC.  Read more…

Middle Earth is born in emotional ‘Tolkien’ trailer

TwitterFacebook

Where do our favorite stories come from, and what effects do they have on those who bring them to life? The trailer for Fox Searchlight’s Tolkien explores this through The Lord of the Rings‘ author and the journey that led him to Frodo and the rest.

The trailer at once promises a biopic, an origin story, and a historical drama – all tied inexorably to the author’s beloved The Lord of the Rings series.

Nicholas Hoult stars as the titular fantasy author in his school and university days. There he meets a group of friends – a “fellowship” – that will be torn apart by World War I. Lily Collins stars as Tolkien’s wife Edith, to whom he wrote letters from the front as the fiery images of war crystallized into a new world in his mind. Read more…

New ‘Shazam!’ trailer proves this delightfully silly movie is really happening

TwitterFacebook

Considering Aquaman, Captain Marvel, and Avengers: Endgame all hit theaters within the same six months, it’s hard to imagine any superhero attempting to compete — least of all Shazam.

And, yet here he is: confused, unevenly confident, “basically 15,” and ready to fight that bald guy.

Shazam, otherwise known as Captain Sparkle Fingers, appears in the film’s second trailer as the bulked-up, lighting-bolt sporting dude fans of the comics and TV show know and love.

But with the movie’s Tom Hanks in Big twist, Shazam’s antics seem more pubescent than powerful. Only time will tell if this Eminem fan, amateur YouTuber, and first-time beer-buyer has what it takes. Read more…

The first trailer for Jordan Peele’s ‘Twilight Zone’ reboot will creep you the hell out

“It is a dimension as vast as space and as timeless as infinity…” — now, with Jordan Peele at the helm.

The first trailer for CBS’s new take on the legendary sci-fi series, The Twilight Zone, hit the web Thursday afternoon, revealing a stellar cast and a few vague plot points for where the dark anthology will be taking us this April.

While we’re thrilled to be getting a glimpse at the highly hyped project (and Peele’s creepy Rod Serling vibes), we have so many new questions.

A brief list: Why is the cute boy from The Predator pulling a full The Shining? What is happening to poor, sweet Adam Scott? Where is Kumail Nanjiani’s non-existent dog? Is Archie Andrews’ dad the new Jim Hopper? Will Glenn from The Walking Dead be evil now? And how is this not happening sooner?! Read more…
