Trevor Noah roasts Brexit using multiple British accents

TwitterFacebook

Even attempting to understand the ongoing nightmare that is Brexit is nigh on impossible — but Trevor Noah has an analogy that might help.

In The Daily Show clip above, he likens Britain leaving the EU to “the world’s biggest escape the room”, before launching into a range of chaotic British accents to emphasise the confusion.

To be fair, you can’t fault his John Oliver impression. Read more…

Trevor Noah’s inspirational quote at the Oscars was actually superb trolling

TwitterFacebook

Trevor Noah used his stage time at the Oscars to honor his South African roots – and to poke a little healthy fun at white people while he was at it.

The Daily Show host shared a Xhosa proverb while introducing Best Picture nominee Black Panther. Except that it wasn’t an inspirational quote, but Noah saying, “White people don’t know I’m lying.”

“Growing up as a young boy in Wakanda, I would see King T’Challa flying over our village,” Noah joked. “And he would remind me of a great Xhosa phrase.”

It turns out the next part was also a joke; Noah spoke in Xhosa and then translated his words to “In times like these, we are stronger when we fight together than when we try to fight apart.” Read more…

Liam Neeson finds an unlikely defender (sort of) in Trevor Noah

TwitterFacebook

In a week when Liam Neeson did himself no favors again and again, The Daily Show host Trevor Noah unexpectedly had his back — to a point.

Neeson came up during a “Between the Scenes” segment on The Daily Show, a time when Noah takes questions from the live studio audience while commercials run for TV viewers at home. These snippets often end up on YouTube, and this one — in which Noah addresses the question: “What do you think about Liam Neeson’s recent admission that he tried to kill a black person?”

In an almost four-minute response, Noah breaks down what happened with Neeson, both in the original interview and in the aftermath. It’s an insightful look at the situation, free of anger or judgment, that suggests Neeson’s face-value admission might have landed better in a different interview environment. Read more…

‘The Daily Show’ nails what’s so absurd about Trump’s State of the Union comments

TwitterFacebook

We’re mired in the longest federal government shutdown in history, and President Donald Trump is feuding with Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi over the State of the Union Speech.

Fortunately, Trevor Noah has that knack for laying out the absurd in a way that makes us laugh despite the urge to cry. In the above clip, Noah walks us through Wednesday’s drama between Pelosi and Trump. There’s a lot to laugh at — from the Game of Thrones reference to the idea that Pelosi is the only one able to instill fear in Trump — but the best part is Noah’s analysis of how Trump’s comments sound like he made them using his  phone’s predictive text. ‘The Daily Show’ found an old Trump speech encouraging people to climb concrete walls

TwitterFacebook

President Donald Trump is a master at giving mixed signals.

As nearly everyone in America knows — because the government’s been shut down for 19 days now — Trump is dead set on building a wall across the souther border in hopes it will help keep undocumented immigrants from entering the country. But back in 2004, he was preaching a very different message.

In a video clip discovered by The Daily Show, Trump is seen encouraging soon-to-be graduates at Staten Island’s Wagner College to never let a concrete wall get in their way.

After addressing his stardom and “financial comeback,” Trump decided to share some advice with the students. He told them to be sure to do what they love in the future, and also, “never, ever give up.”  Read more…

Trevor Noah examines Trump’s embarrassing history of tone-deaf statements about 9/11

TwitterFacebook

After that confusing pre-9/11 memorial service fist pump, The Daily Show’s Trevor Noah is calling out President Donald Trump for all the “bizarre, emotionally out-of-step shit” he’s said about September 11 over the years.

“As humans we all have our own way of processing what happened that day, but as we know in life there are humans and then there’s President Trump,” Noah said.

The late night host went on to examine the president’s latest bizarre 9/11 tweet — which he dubbed “the most factually accurate thing Trump has tweeted in about three months” — and then looked at some of his past screw ups. Read more…

Omarosa says she’s ‘not trolling’ with White House recordings

TwitterFacebook

Omarosa Manigault-Newman said she’s “not trolling” the White House with her decision to release secretly taped conversations with Chief of Staff John Kelly and Trump.

The former Trump aide joined Trevor Noah on The Daily Show on Tuesday night to talk about her new tell-all book, Unhinged: An Insider’s Account of the White House, and why she made the recordings — including one which reportedly discusses the existence of an Apprentice outtake tape in which Trump allegedly uses a racial slur.

“I’m not trolling them. I just want them to know that everything that you see in Unhinged, that’s quoted, can be verified as documented and corroborated.” she said. Read more…

Trevor Noah slams Trump’s Russia excuse: ‘Get the f*ck out of here, man’

TwitterFacebook

“Welcome to 2018,” Daily Show host Trevor Noah said before attempting to scratch the surface of the absurdity that has taken place during this week in Donald Trump’s presidency.

As Noah kindly reminded us, ~everyone~ lost their shit after Trump’s press conference with Vladimir Putin — even “the toughest guy in history,” the Terminator aka Arnold Schwarzenegger.

But Noah really went after the president’s excuse for showing Russia all that love. From the lights inexplicably going out in the White House during Tuesday’s statement, to Trump’s “double negative” comment, and his refusal to clearly state a belief that Russia meddled in the election, the talk show host was not here for it. Trevor Noah rips the White House response to Dinnergate

TwitterFacebook

As the internet exploded over the weekend, moving from children in cages to Sarah Huckabee Sanders’ inability to get a meal in Lexington, Virginia, you just knew that Trevor Noah and The Daily Show crew would have some fun with it. And they didn’t disappoint.

From the opening joke about Sanders’ tendency to blatantly lie to the press, to a crack about cheese boards — “cheese is not Republican or Democrat” — Noah is in top form.

There are also jokes about Trump’s bone spurs, administration staffers’ inability to get laid, and Stephen Miller reimagined as a Slytherin professor, proving that if you’re smart enough, there is a way to squeeze laughs out of this daily cycle through the many layers of Hell.   Read more…

Trevor Noah also slams Trump’s ‘solution’ to border crisis

TwitterFacebook

Stephen Colbert slammed it. Now it’s Trevor Noah’s turn.

Just days after The Daily Show skewered Donald Trump‘s child separation policy, on Wednesday night, Noah called BS on Trump’s new executive order to halt the separation of migrant families crossing the U.S. border.

The order, signed after immense pressure and public outrage, essentially changes, but doesn’t fix, the humanitarian crisis Trump’s own administration created. “Trump right now is if Superman threw a meteor at the Earth and then stopped it himself,” said Noah. “Everyone’d be like, ‘Thanks, I guess?'”

Remember, the order simply halts the separation of migrant families at the border — it details absolutely no plans to reunite more than 2,000 children with their parents. Plus, the order maintains that while families will no longer be separated, they could possibly be detained together indefinitely. Read more…
