‘Sesame Street’ asked Twitter an innocent deserted island question. Things got intense.

TwitterFacebook

If you found yourself marooned on a deserted island, and you could summon one character from Sesame Street, who would it be?

Seems like an innocent question, but one that took an intense turn when posed by the beloved children’s program on Twitter.

Sesame Street‘s social media team put forward the hypothetical, “You’re stuck on a deserted island and you can pick one of these Sesame Street friends to come with you. Who are you picking and why?” and presented the choices of Grover, Cookie Monster, Oscar the Grouch and Elmo. Read more…

‘Fantastic Four’ director expertly roasts himself on Twitter

TwitterFacebook

Sometimes the universe just hands you a set-up for a joke so perfect that you have no choice but to go for it.

The universe – or in this case, Twitter – just presented director Josh Trank with the perfect opportunity to subtly burn himself and one of his, er, less successful career endeavours.

Joseph Kahn, a fellow director, tweeted out a pretty blatant statement about superhero movies, claiming that they simply don’t fail.

No superhero movie fails.

— Joseph Kahn (@JosephKahn) March 10, 2019

But Trank, who just happens to have directed the 2015 remake of Fantastic Four that absolutely bombed at the box office, had the perfect response. Read more…

People have the weirdest nicknames for their pets and yep, it’s a meme now

TwitterFacebook

Pets are like family, only furrier and cuter.

Just like we’d never call our grandmothers by their real names, calling pets by their given names is just unnatural.

On Twitter, pet owners are sharing their nicknames for their pets, after Twitter user @metroadlib first shared their list of names for their dog, Cooper.

my dog’s name is cooper.

i call him—
boubba
boub
honeybunny
coopypoopy
heyloverthisismorethanacrush
stinkboy
& sweetboy.

i use sweetboy the most.

i call this mfer “cooper” exactly 7% of the time.

Bruno Mars points out a glaring inconsistency in the lyrics to one of his biggest hits

TwitterFacebook

Sometimes looking back at your own work can be a somewhat humiliating experience — even when it is pretty impressive and has afforded you numerous awards.

Singer Bruno Mars just proved that on Twitter, where he pointed out a lyric that doesn’t actually make sense.

When Twitter account Chart Data — which tweets facts and data about the music industry — pointed out that Mars’ hit song “Grenade” made number one eleven years ago, Mars’ retweeted his observation about an inconsistency in the lyrics.

But how did I know her eyes were open? 😒 https://t.co/5hBnCudSvn

Sandra Oh wearing a onesie and diamonds is the energy we all need in 2019

TwitterFacebook

Sandra Oh pretty much won the entire 2019 Golden Globes. She co-hosted the show with Andy Samberg, took home an award and moved everyone with her acceptance speech, and she killed it on the red carpet with her Killing Eve co-star Jodie Comer.

And now, she’s also won big in the category of “Best Morning After Pic”. Oh posted a photo of herself lying on the floor wearing a onesie and the diamond necklace she wore to the Golden Globes afterparty.

“Thank you to all my Team(s),” she wrote in the caption.

This bookstore just sold a book that had been on a shelf for nearly 28 years

TwitterFacebook

Indie bookshops are often great places for book lovers to browse for hidden gems. Some gems, though, remain hidden for a pretty long time before anyone picks them up and gives them a home.

Broadhurst’s Bookshop, an independent bookshop in the English town of Southport, just sold such a gem after having kept it on their shelves for nearly 28 years.

The tweet announcing the sale currently has 134,000 likes.

I have just sold a book that we have had in stock since May 1991. We always knew its day would come.

This upcoming Liam Neeson film is pretty much a movie version of a ‘Simpsons’ episode

In his upcoming movie Cold Pursuit, Liam Neeson plays a Snowplow driver on a violent quest for revenge. Sound familiar?
That may be because the plot of Cold Pursuit is kind of similar to the plot of the “Mr. Plow,” episode on Season 4 of The Simpsons…
