TwitterFacebook

Apple released watchOS 5.1 on Tuesday alongside a major software update for iOS, but it’s already been pulled.

The decision came following a handful of reports of bricked Apple Watches on Twitter and reddit, with users reporting that their devices were stuck on the Apple logo while booting up.

Apple confirmed the issue, and said that it’s working on a fix in a statement provided to CNET.

TwitterFacebook

Apple just unveiled its latest lineup of iPhones and Apple Watches and, even if you don’t plan on upgrading, you’ll soon be able to update your existing gadgets.

With the launch of the new products, Apple will also officially release the latest versions of its software, including watchOS 5 and tvOS 12. Both updates will arrive on September 17, alongside iOS 12.

First unveiled in June at WWDC, watchOS 5 adds a suite of new features, including support for podcasts and improved Siri integration (you no longer need to begin queries with “Hey Siri”). Live from Apple’s 2018 iPhone event

TwitterFacebook

It’s time for some new iPhones.

Apple is set to reveal its iPhone lineup for 2018 at an event at its Cupertino, California, headquarters on Wednesday, Sept. 12. The event begins at 10 a.m. Pacific Time, and Apple will be live-streaming the keynote on its website and, for the first time, on Twitter. Mashable Tech Editor Pete Pachal and Senior Tech Correspondent Raymond Wong will be at the event, and you can follow their live updates right here.

While the devices Apple reveals on Wednesday will be new, they’ll be familiar — all rumors point to three new iPhones, all based on the iPhone X design, complete with edge-to-edge design, Face ID unlocking, and the so-called “notch.” Also expected: a new Apple Watch design with a slightly bigger screen, an upgraded version of AirPods, and possibly even refreshed iPads and a new entry-level laptop to replace the aging MacBook Air. The $10,000 Apple Watch Edition is obsolete now

TwitterFacebook

This is going to be a hard lesson for early adopters.

While Apple’s new wearable operating system, watchOS 5, is packed with lots of new features, it’s not going to run on first generation Apple Watches.

Or rather, they won’t be getting any new features, suggesting that it might be time to upgrade from your pricey investment. Even though the device is already three years old, we’re still surprised to hear that Apple is ending support so soon — especially when some of the models costs thousands of dollars. Read more…
