Astrology Twitter is fighting over whether Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez lied about her birth time

TwitterFacebook

Hell hath no fury like Astrology Twitter.

Whether a crush, a nemesis, or your very own congressional representative, nothing exposes someone’s true self like a complete birth chart. (OK, there are lots of things that show your true colors, but your star placement is much easier to obtain.)

Twitter users who care deeply about astrology are convinced that Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez faked her birth time for … a better natal chart.

Finding out someone’s birth time is the achievement to end all achievements. A natal chart is essentially pseudoscience for explaining why you are the way you are; Co-Star, an astrology app, describes it as an “astronomical snapshot of the sky based on the exact day, time, and place you were born.” The placement of certain stars, astrology enthusiasts reason, can influence your behavior and desires.  Read more…

Meghan McCain’s nasty wedding guest Denise is now a beautiful meme

TwitterFacebook

If you’re a guest at someone’s wedding, you probably shouldn’t insult them in front of thousands of people on Twitter. Just a thought.

Federalist contributor DC McAllister went after the television show The View this week in a tweet that since’s gone viralMcAllister accused the show’s guests of being “delusional mental midgets ricocheting ignorance and lack of emotional regulation.”

The only problem? McAllister appears to have been a guest at show host Meghan McCain’s wedding.

Can someone explain to me the purpose of The View? It seems to me to be a roundtable of delusional mental midgets ricocheting ignorance and lack of emotional regulationhttps://t.co/VMT4LtI1Ir via @ILMForg

This writer’s Twitter thread about his stay in a creepy log cabin is the stuff of nightmares

TwitterFacebook

Log cabins are a bit of a problem for writers.

On the one hand, they make pretty great places for a nice retreat — somewhere quiet and out of the way where you can really focus on that latest project. On the other hand, they’re scary as hell.

This is something Tom Taylor — Marvel and DC Comics writer and creator of TV series The Deep — recently discovered firsthand.

Taylor is currently working on a bunch of different projects: Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man for Marvel, DCeased for DC Comics (a horror book which sounds very appropriate in this case) and a feature film. To get his head down and focus, he decided to spend a few nights in a log cabin in the Australian bush. Read more…

‘Egg boy’ believes what he did ‘united people,’ even if he admits it was wrong

TwitterFacebook

It’s the crack of an egg that was heard around the world.

Australian 17-year-old Will Connolly, known as “egg boy” for cracking an egg over the head of an Islamophobic senator, has finally spoken — and he wasn’t apologetic.

Speaking to TV program The Project on Monday night, Connolly said he did it because he was “flat out disgusted” with Australian senator Fraser Anning’s comments.

“After that tragedy in Christchurch, I thought the world should be supporting all those victims,” Connolly said. “And the senator released a statement which was pretty much a divisive hate speech.” Read more…

The flat stomach meme will probably just make you hungry

TwitterFacebook

Apparently nobody on Twitter knows what a human body looks like.

The flat stomach meme is a horrifying ASCII attempt at depicting a side profile of someone’s body. What it lacks in anatomical accuracy it makes up for in personal attacks.

The meme started late last week, when Twitter user @itsJWolfe tweeted emoji of all the beautifully delicious things they’ve eaten. Who needs a flat stomach when you can fill your body with bread and cheese? It’s 2019 and we’re all here to enjoy life.

Twitter cliques might feel like high school, but their existence is tied to our human nature

TwitterFacebook

It will come as no surprise to anyone, but I was not cool in high school. Not even a little bit.

Now that I’m a 30-year-old human masquerading as a grownup, I had hoped I’d put my desires to be part of the cool crowd to bed long ago. But years after this angst-ridden festival of self-consciousness, I have become uncomfortably reacquainted with the feeling of being on the outside of the clique.

Over a decade since I put high school well and truly behind me, I now inhabit a virtual one. And I’d be lying if I said that I don’t feel a pang of those teenage feelings — of thinking I’m on the outskirts of Cool Town — anytime I scroll through my Twitter feed.  Read more…

Dr. Dre, who donated $70 million to USC, says his daughter got in ‘on her own’

TwitterFacebook

Dr. Dre wrote that his daughter Truly was accepted to the University of Southern California “all on her own” on Saturday. Given the college admissions scandal that’s still making headlines, this was a strange brag — the school literally has a building named after him.

“My daughter got accepted into USC all on her own. No jail time!!!” Dre wrote in a since-deleted Instagram post. Presumably, it was deleted because people quickly pointed out a $70 million donation he made to the school with executive Jimmy Iovine in 2013, which funded the Jimmy Iovine and Andre Young Academy for Arts, Technology and the Business of Innovation. (Dr. Dre’s legal name is Andre Young.) Read more…

Watch viral gymnast Katelyn Ohashi’s amazing new floor routine

TwitterFacebook

UCLA gymnast Katelyn Ohashi, who went viral back in January for her electrifying floor routine, is back for more.

Ohashi debuted a new floor routine Saturday at the PAC-12 women’s gymnastics championship in West Valley City, Utah. The routine features music from only female artists, including Tina Turner and Janet Jackson — both of whom were featured in her original viral routine — and Beyoncé. (Though music from Michael Jackson appeared in her previous routine, Ohashi chose not to include any here in the wake of Leaving Neverland.)

Unsurprisingly, Ohashi is as joyous and as awe-inspiring to watch as ever. She scored a perfect 10, and UCLA came out on top. Read more…
