Battle all the best Wes Anderson characters in the most twee card game ever

TwitterFacebook

Wes Anderson is responsible for creating some of the most beloved characters in all of cinema. With all their quirks, specificities, and perfectly produced personas, you can’t help but imagine who would win in a battle to the death between, say, Margot Tenenbaum and M. Gustave.

Well, now you can — thanks to the trump card game, Completely Open, where only the tweest survive in a battle to the pastels, presumably to determine which relatably off-color Anderson creation is truly the greatest. Using beautifully designed cards that provide each character with a set of numerical values, players test their stats against each other in five separate categories. Read more…

TV reporter doesn’t take any crap from random stranger hurling abuse at her

TwitterFacebook

Why are people so unkind?

Maggie Raworth, a journalist with 9 News in Ballarat, Australia, was confronted by a stranger who stopped his car and walked out to harass her. And it was all caught on camera.

“I make ten times the amount of money you do. Get a real job,” the unnamed man tells Raworth. “Fucking journos. Lowest of the low.”

To her credit, Raworth kept the confrontation civil, asking the man what she had personally done to make him angry. But he wasn’t having it, and continued to abuse her with profanities and comments about her appearance. Read more…

16 best uses of 280 characters on Twitter

TwitterFacebook

After weeks of testing, Twitter rolled out a major update to its platform, doubling each tweet’s character count from 140 to 280.

Exhilarating, right?

While the update may seem small to some, it is a pretty drastic change that will affect how users interact on the app. Though the feature is still new, here are the best ways people have used the increased character limit so far.

1. Grace the internet with more Smash Mouth

this is a test:

Somebody once told me the world is gonna roll me
I ain’t the sharpest tool in the shed
She was looking kind of dumb with her finger and her thumb
In the shape of an “L” on her forehead
Well the years start coming and they don’t stop coming
Fed to the rules and I

Farewell to Paddles, New Zealand’s beloved first cat

TwitterFacebook

New Zealand’s first cat and internet sensation, Paddles, has sadly died.

The ginger and white cat belonging to the country’s new Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern, was struck down by a car on Tuesday, according to the New Zealand Herald

A neighbour found it hoping that it was unconscious, but a vet later pronounced it dead.

“I’m pretty upset,” a neighbour told the newspaper. “She’s very much part of the neighbourhood. Most people around here would know who she is.” Read more…

Russian trolls pushed the California and Texas secession movements

TwitterFacebook

Texans and Californians who supported their state’s secession in the run-up to the 2016 presidential election may have been duped by the Russian government.

The Internet Research Agency has recently been linked to secession efforts in Texas and — as the BBC reported late last week — California.

Perhaps you remember #Calexit.

Styled in the way of #Brexit, the campaign for the United Kingdom to remove itself from the European Union, #Calexit is a California secession “movement” that seemed to gain some traction right as President Donald Trump was elected, with the apparent aid of a Twitter bot network.  Read more…

Navya’s fully self-driving taxi looks straight out of Robocop

TwitterFacebook

Navya, the French company behind the all-electric, self-driving ARMA shuttle buses on the streets in Las Vegas, Michigan, and Singapore, has a brand-new ride for cities looking to create fleets of driverless taxicabs.

The company just unveiled its latest electric autonomous vehicle, the Autonum Cab, at a private company event in Paris. Navya’s calling the car the “world’s first taxi robot,” a title that competitors with public pilot programs on the road like Waymo, Uber, and Cruise would probably be quick to dispute — but the new cab certainly looks more like something straight out of a sci-fi movie than any of the other self-driving cars currently on the road.  Read more…

Liberal goats are destroying America

TwitterFacebook

When goats aren’t doing yoga and posing for Instagram, they’re trying to influence OUR elections.

On Tuesday, these elitist barnyard animals were spotted at a polling station at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Virginia.

Virginia is looking to replace Gov. Terry McAuliffe with either Lt. Gov. Ralph Northam, a Democrat, or Ed Gillespie, the Republican candidate and former Enron lobbyist who’s run a very Trump-esque campaign

Goats might seem non-partisan. But what’s the Democratic symbol? A donkey. Which is basically a dumb, less evil-looking goat.  Read more…
