‘Queer Eye’ stars settle the ‘squirrel’ debate and you might not like what they have to say

Queer Eye is back, and with it, the new series has brought something of a debate to the internet. The Fab Five’s resident Brit, Tan France, said the word “squirrel” during episode one and instantly divided the internet over the correct pronunciation of the word. 

Well, as a fellow Brit, I’m very much Team Tan on this one. Squirrel has two syllables. 

Jonathan Van Ness is also Team Tan and he chimed in during an interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live. “It’s two syllables,” he said. 

So, as Tan says: “America, the correct pronunciation for ‘squirl’ is ‘squir-rel.'”
