Tarantino responds to the ‘Kill Bill’ crash footage that Uma Thurman posted on Instagram

TwitterFacebook

Quentin Tarantino has addressed Uma Thurman’s crash on the set of Kill Bill following her piece in the New York Times and a subsequent Instagram post in which she says she is “proud” of the director.

In an interview with the New York Times, Thurman described being pressured into driving a car which crashed on the set of Kill Bill. She then uploaded the footage of the crash to Instagram, accompanied by a statement about who she finds responsible.

i post this clip to memorialize it’s full exposure in the nyt by Maureen Dowd. the circumstances of this event were negligent to the point of criminality. i do not believe though with malicious intent. Quentin Tarantino, was deeply regretful and remains remorseful about this sorry event, and gave me the footage years later so i could expose it and let it see the light of day, regardless of it most likely being an event for which justice will never be possible. he also did so with full knowledge it could cause him personal harm, and i am proud of him for doing the right thing and for his courage. THE COVER UP after the fact is UNFORGIVABLE. for this i hold Lawrence Bender, E. Bennett Walsh, and the notorious Harvey Weinstein solely responsible. they lied, destroyed evidence, and continue to lie about the permanent harm they caused and then chose to suppress. the cover up did have malicious intent, and shame on these three for all eternity. CAA never sent anyone to Mexico. i hope they look after other clients more respectfully if they in fact want to do the job for which they take money with any decency. Read more…

Kate Winslet expresses ‘bitter regrets’ for working with accused sexual predators

TwitterFacebook

Kate Winslet has recently come under fire for repeatedly failing to condemn — and even going as far as to defend — accused sexual predators in Hollywood she’s worked with in the past.

But, while accepting an award for excellence in film at the London Critics’ Circle on Jan. 28, Winslet finally addressed the Woody Allen-shaped elephant in the room.

Though perhaps not in the way many hoped she would.

“As women around the world and from all walks of life marched last weekend, once again joining together to speak out against harassment, exploitation and abuse, I realised that I wouldn’t be able to stand here this evening and keep to myself some bitter regrets that I have about poor decisions to work with individuals with whom I wish I had not,” she said, according to a BBC transcript. On a magical night 22 years ago, Jason Priestley punched Harvey Weinstein in the face

TwitterFacebook

Let’s give it up for Jason Priestley, the unlikeliest hero man of 2017.

The Beverly Hills 90210 heartthrob took to Twitter on Friday with a story about the time he punched disgraced Hollywood power player Harvey Weinstein in the face. It was actor Tara Strong who first hinted at the story, in a response to the revelation that Weinstein had blacklisted Ashley Judd and Mira Sorvino.

Heartbreaking….wouldn’t be surprised if this happened to my good friend @Jason_Priestley who punched Weinstein in the face at a club one night. Go Jay 😡👊🏻💙

Women over 50 see sexual harassment very differently to millennials

TwitterFacebook

Somewhere between the main course and dessert at a dinner party, I became aware of a colossal chasm in the way my generation and my parents’ generation perceive sexual harassment. It was during a recent trip to my parents’ home in rural Warwickshire, England, that I found myself embroiled in conversations with family friends and neighbours about sexual harassment and sexual correctness with women over the age of 50.

I learned that some women over the age of 50 feel that, in the wake of the Harvey Weinstein scandal, we are in danger of entering an era of extreme sexual correctness, where men will feel under constant scrutiny when interacting with female counterparts. And, though I’d read—and rolled my eyes—at headlines about sexual harassment allegations going “too far”, this was the first time I’d heard a view like this uttered aloud IRL. Needless to say, I did not share their views.  Read more…
