Here’s what different shelters across the country need this Giving Tuesday

Giving Tuesday is a great opportunity for us to lend a hand to someone in need. And while the holidays are all about spreading Christmas cheer, for the over 500,000 homeless people in the US, it’s all about getting the essentials.

Though statistics show the number of people who are homeless is slowly decreasing, it is still a rampant problem. Over 83,000 people are chronically homeless, meaning they have a physical or intellectual disability and have been homeless for a year, or they have experienced shorter periods of homelessness more than four times in their life. Among people under the age of 24, 550,000 people have experienced homelessness for over a week — a number that is not included in the national statistic. Read more…
