Apple’s 4TB hard drives are $3,200. Samsung might have a better idea.
You can get a ton of storage for your new laptop — but you’ll probably have to pay an arm and a leg for it. Putting a 4TB SSD in the new MacBook Pro immediately adds $3,200 to the cost, for example.
But Samsung’s new line of SSDs might change that. The company’s new 4TB QLC SSD is very fast and, though Samsung didn’t share exact pricing yet, it’s aimed primarily at consumers, not professionals.
The new 4-bit drive, based on 1Tb V-NAND technology, will offer 540MB/s sequential read speed and 520MB/s sequential write speed, which is on the same level as the company’s 3-bit drives. In other words, you’re getting a lot more storage with the same performance as before, which is already fast enough for pretty much anything you can throw at it. Read more…

Apple’s Touch Bar was a big feature of the 2016 MacBook Pro, but, judging from the lack of software support or imitators, it hasn’t moved the needle in the way Apple wanted it to.

Yet another Apple bug: 2018 MacBook Pro and iMac Pro users report kernel panic issues
Things haven’t been going so well for Apple’s new 2018 Macbook Pro.
Owners of Apple’s latest Macbook Pro model are reporting their devices are being hit with multiple kernel panics, some as often as two times a day according to a new 9to5Mac report.
For the uninitiated, a kernel panic is basically when your computer’s operating system detects an internal fatal error which it cannot safely recover from. The computer forces a reboot to minimize the risk of major data loss.
This news of a widespread kernel panic issue affecting 2018 Macbook Pros arrives just as Apple released a fix dealing with another major issue that was being reported the owners of Apple’s latest computer model. Before the Apple issued update, users of the 2018 Macbook Pro were reporting that the computer was running so hot that the Intel Core processors inside the computer were throttling its performance down to low speeds. Apple’s update apparently fixes a bug that was affecting the new Macbook Pro’s thermal management system. Read more…

So it was a bug after all.
Almost as soon Apple debuted its new MacBook Pro for 2018 — which greatly boosts performance over last year’s model and marks the first time an Intel Core i9 machine has been in the lineup — it was plagued with a performance problem.
YouTuber Dave Lee was the first to identify it: When you push the MacBook Pro to the limit, and it gets hot, it’s not nearly as fast as Apple claims. Lee tried a processor-intensive task in Adobe Premiere and got way better performance when he put his brand-new Pro in the freezer.

Apple’s 2018 MacBook Pro has some serious CPU throttling issues
On paper, Apple’s new 15-inch MacBook Pro appears to be a monster of a laptop, configurable with a powerful Intel eighth-generation Core i9 six-core processor.
