Motorola has just announced the first 5G phone for Verizon. Sorta.

The Moto Z3 will get 5G via mod
Say what you will about the success or general usefulness of the Moto Mod line — Motorola keeps plugging away. The company currently offers 17 Mods with an 18th on the way, bringing one of the most interesting use cases yet. Along with the new Moto Z3 handset, Motorola unveiled a Mod that will bring […]

Premium glass and metal design • Great display • Clean • near stock Android • Comes with battery Moto Mod (U.S.)
So-so battery life • Average cameras • No headphone jack • Fingerprint sensor’s weird for lefties
The Moto Z3 Play has a premium design and big, sharp screen that’ll win you over, but its average battery life and cameras might turn you off.
The OnePlus 6 should be at the very top of your list if you’re on a budget of about $500-$600. However, there’s a deal deal-breaker: If you’re on Verizon or Sprint, the OnePlus 6 isn’t compatible with those networks. Read more…

Motorola’s Moto G6 promises a respectable-yet-affordable smartphone, and it mostly delivers, though there are a few missteps.
Motorola’s new Moto G6 has a superb design at a sub $300 price point. But a premium feel for an affordable price is only half the battle with a smartphone.
With its G and E models, Motorola has proven over the past few years that an affordable smartphone doesn’t have to be a slow, bloatware-filled device, but they’ve never been lookers. Read more…

At an event in Brazil this morning, Lenovo announced the latest addition to its line of modular handsets. Gimmick or not, Motorola’s still committed to its modular phones and Moto Mod attachments.
To prove it, the company’s releasing the new Moto Z3 Play, which’ll be sold bundled with a battery Moto Mod for $499.
If you’re looking for a flagship Android phone — one with Qualcomm’s fastest Snapdragon 845 chip and loads of RAM — the Z3 Play is not your next purchase.
Experience over specs
Rather than focus on pure performance — Motorola says tech specs are now pointless — the Z3 Play focuses on the experience.
That means a phone that’s made from premium materials like glass on the front and back, and aluminum for the frame. Read more…

It feels like ages ago, but there was a time when some phones carried a certain cachet.
Now with the plethora of barely indistinguishable iPhones and Android devices, there isn’t much novelty in phones anymore — aside from the recent spate of Nokia throwbacks and that weird curved screen phase.
