Pixel Stand charges your phone, and does a whole lot more

TwitterFacebook

Google is beating Apple to releasing a wireless charger.

The Pixel Stand, announced Tuesday, is a wireless charger designed for the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL. However, it also packs some neat software customizations. You can pre-order the Pixel Stand now for $79.

Sure, it can handle fast charging (through the Qi standard) and will prop your phone up. However, it also brings many of the Google Home Hub features to your phone. When the Pixel 3 is docked, a new user interface will take over that enlarges fonts and graphics – allowing you to see it from across the room. Read more…

The unannounced Pixel 3 XL is already for sale in one store

TwitterFacebook

Google’s big Pixel event is a couple days away and the leaks just reached a new level of ridiculous.

Does it even count as a leak if you can just walk into a store and try it out? That’s what Engadget’s Richard Lai apparently did. The Hong Kong-based writer reports that a local mobile phone shop is selling the still unannounced Pixel 3 XL.

It’s not clear if Lai actually purchased the device himself — the shop was reportedly selling the phone for the equivalent of $2,300 USD — but he was able to complete a rather thorough hands on with it.  Read more…

Pixel 3 is supposedly available for pre-order from a third-party in China before Google has even announced it

TwitterFacebook

Google’s upcoming Pixel 3 phone has just popped up on an online store.

…well, on a third-party Chinese online retailer’s website that even admits in the store’s listing that the item is not available yet.

Still, the listing on JD.com, a popular Chinese internet store, gives us a few new interesting pieces of information.

According to AndroidHeadlines, while images of the Pixel 3 and the Pixel 3 XL have leaked online before, the image renders on the store’s listing might be our very first look at both models in both black and white colors, side-by-side, without any phone case blocking off the full view of Google’s latest Android offering. Google teases Pixel 3 launch in the wake of Apple’s iPhone event

TwitterFacebook

It’s the Friday after a major Apple event, so you know what that means: it’s new iPhone pre-order day.

And if you’re Google, it’s also a strategic day to drop a reminder that your new Android phone, Pixel 3, is about to go on sale, too.

In an update to its online store, Google has rolled out big number “3,” along with an option to sign up for updates. Yes, that’s it.

As small as it may seem, it’s not a bad move to drop a hint to remind people that there’s a new alternative coming to take on your competitor’s latest product. It creates some talk around your upcoming smartphone on what’s supposed to be their big day. And hey, we’re covering it. Read more…
