The artists behind the striking Obama portraits

Former POTUS and FLOTUS Barack and Michelle Obamas’ official portraits for the Smithsonian Institute’s National Portrait Gallery were revealed yesterday. Barack selected New York-based artist Kehinde Wiley, and Michelle selected Baltimore-based artist Amy Sherald. Both Kehinde and Amy made history as the first African-American painters to receive a presidential portrait commission from the museum.  Read more…
