This octopus-inspired skin could one day camouflage objects

Engineers at Cornell University created ‘CCOARSE’, a method to control the shape of an inflated object. They were inspired by the octopus, which can quickly change color and shape.

The process involves pouring silicone on a 3D mold and placing a rigid mesh onto it, which is then set using a simple algorithm. Read more…
