AirPods may support wireless charging in 2019. But where’s AirPower?

AirPods may finally get some long-rumored upgrades in the not-too-distant future. 

Apple will release an AirPods case that supports wireless charging in the beginning of 2019, according to a new report from the often accurate Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo (via 9to5Mac). 

They will also get a robust redesign in 2020, Kuo said. That may include sweat resistance or a more seamless Hey Siri integration, if previous rumors are to be believed, though Kuo did not go into 2020 redesign specifics.

There’s just one thing missing: the actual wireless charger. Kuo said that the AirPods case will support wireless charging. But there’s no mention of an actual wireless charging pad to, ya know, charge your AirPods. Which certainly looks like still more trouble with the embattled AirPower. Read more…
