Competitive and casual chess players alike now have a new foe. In addition to computers, there’s a new AI platform called AlphaZero that can totally beat us all.

AlphaZero is from DeepMind Technologies, a subsidiary under Alphabet, which is Google’s parent company. It can tackle not only chess, but also shogi and Go — two equally difficult, if not even more challenging, games.

AlphaZero comes after many years of research, succeeding AlphaGo Zero from last year, the world’s best Go player. But this time around there wasn’t any human help. AlphaZero taught itself how to play from scratch. Read more…

Look, chess hasn’t been sexy since probably the 18th century.

So it’s no wonder the folks at London’s 2018 World Chess Championship are looking to get people titillated with a logo that looks like something out of the Kama Sutra.

If you’re even able to do the deed while playing chess, good for you, but for the rest of us rather perplexed at the logistics, this is the actual kinda NSFW logo for the tournament.
