Childish Gambino’s ‘Feels Like Summer’ video plays a game of ‘spot the reference’

Now that it’s September, the hottest days of the year are (hopefully) firmly in the rearview. But for Childish Gambino, it still “Feels Like Summer.”

Donald Glover dropped a new video for his musical alter ego on Saturday. It’s a 5-minute journey through a summertime neighborhood populated by black celebrities (mostly hip hop stars), beautifully animated by artist Justin Richburg.

The video follows a young man — who looks suspiciously like a cartoon version of Glover-as-Earn, from Atlanta — as he strolls down the street, taking in the playful summer scenes. Occasionally he pauses and a dream-like interlude kicks in.  Read more…
